The Menu of Gratitude

Menu of Gratitude:

Yann.

At the Brocante.

Finds a rusty iron menu sign.

Exclaims with a great kid like wonder:

"Look what I found!" Holding it behind his back he adds, "I know you are going to like it."

Curiosity. That is a good thing to have after twenty-five years together? I try to peek over his shoulder:

"What is it?"

He holds up with beaming pride, his brocante find.

I was given a bouquet of roses in the form of his "knowing me"!

Gratitude Menu. What is on your list of thankfulness?

  1. corey on this very day…i was trying to figure out how to convey my gratitude to you-all my lovely treasures arrived today and there was a surprise and it was not the first time… you remind of your mom in that respect…you said in one post she gives things away if someone falls in like/love with something …things have wings, coming and going-so for your loving hearfelt generosity-i am grateful-THANK YOU-i can never say it enough!!

I love this. The curiosity after 25 years, the beaming pride, his gift of rusted metal.

  3. It is GORGEOUS! Yann is becoming an expert!
If it doesn’t fit in your kitchen, I know where I would put it in mine!

  4. I think you found your treasure 25 years ago. I am thankful today for sunshine and flowers.

  5. Brother Mathew

What about the motorcycle? Can’t you guys go on a ride or something fun?!?

  6. g reminded me of sweet very treasured gifts I’ve also received from Corey. It is always nice to get surprise gifts but always means more when the giver has selected something that she said reminded her of the receiver.

  7. Ah so sweet. I hope we have that at 25 years.
I’m thankful for the quiet this evening!

  8. Haha! Same thing happened to me on the weekend.
    Sunday morning.
He: What are you doing today?
    Me: Nothing important
He: I want to take you somewhere and show you something I know you will like.
The mind boggled – what could it be?
A lolly pink Morris Minor the next town over.
    Not terribly exciting for most,
but for me, the ants pants.
I’ve spent over half my life with this fella.
    24 years. Sheesh.
I’m so lucky and thankful, I still like him after all that time.

  9. How exciting to feel his excitement . . . I felt excitement today when I saw your name on an envelope. Smiles, thank you, hugs . . .

  10. Thankful my daughter wasn’t running the Boston marathon this year. So sad for the heartbreak @ the marathon this year.

  11. I’m thankful for this blog!

    Love it! So much fun!

I’m thankful for all the first-responders at the Boston Marathon, and those at the Boston area hospitals (including Brigham, MGH, Children’s) who doubtless saved lives today.

  14. Hi Mat! We hope too. But we cannot go far since Yann’s friend is still in the hospital. This was the second brocante I had been to since Jan. For me that is mind boggling.

That Yann, what a guy!!! I am seriously grateful for a healthy family, and for those in Boston who are helping others to deal with a senseless attack. And on the superficial side, I am grateful for a husband of 45 years who finally got me the car of my dreams; a brand new, bright red, VW Beetle with a black rag top. YEE HA! (It eems Yann is a much quicker study than my dear old man)

  16. A great find – Bravo Yann!

  17. Corey …I felt your moment with your son. It reminded me how we can take those moments for granted. I cannot tell you how much they can touch me when my girls get me. I just posted on FB my daughter had packed my vintage cart with housewarming goodies for her friend who moved into Oak Park, Il. She had a vintage vase, tulips, salad makings, my canned jelly, paper towels, cleaning supplies (vinegar, baking soda, and lemons)! What a proud moment as a mama….
Thank you for reminding of this glory…in our sadness of Bosten….I had three friends running it and luckily unharmed.
    Have a glorious day….
Ps you can never have enough of your special moments….

That is so cute! I love your posts about Yann. I want to find a guy like him! Can’t wait to visit you one day, Corey! 🙂

  19. I love it!!! My hubby does that occasionally and he is so proud and it just warms my heart. We’ve been together 25 years also! That menu sign is wonderful! karen…

  20. What fun that he sees with your eyes.

  21. The best kind of bouquet. So grateful for the ability to choose, the comfort of safety, the beauty of nature….a clear mind and open heart.

I am grateful for all of your great joy and the love and sparkles that you send out every day Corey! It is everything that I am grateful for…being able to take my dogs for a walk today and the sun shining on us and love everywhere…even in the tiniest little flower that is showing up right now. I am grateful for music that sends ripples of happiness through me and my children who I am going to see next week! Thank you for reminding us to feel the joy of gratitude!!!

  23. I am grateful to once again see how good rises to the surface in the face of evil.

  24. diane – florida

that is the essence. I don’t know where this came from, but I’ve never forgotten it: ‘I sang the blues ’cause I had no shoes. Until I went out on the street and met a man who had no feet.’ I am grateful for feet.

  25. How sweet! I am grateful for those kind of moments, and very grateful that I am still here to witness them!
