The Silver Lining

French Window

The silver lining to yesterday's event:

I wish I could say I had a wonderful massage, but that is not French Husband's gift, nor locally found. No instead I slept in and admired the play on light on the ceiling. The roses that cover my bedroom window gave such a sweet fragrance. And I found a baby caterpillar in my hair.

Oh the joy of sleeping with the window open! The caterpillar was nothing considering the bat that came in last year, or the neighbor's cat that peed under my bed.

Silver lining, your notes of thoughtfulness and caring. Thank you for the good advice! I feel better today than I did yesterday that is certain.

    Silver linings certainly are golden!

  3. oh my, i am just reading yesterdays tale about your back.
i did not read comments but i have had a back injury. first, rest and ice to prevent swelling for a few days, rest and ice. mri’s and x-rays are helpful for a diagnosis but truly, so many i have known with injuries have waited it out and the back mended on its own.
i will read the comments to see what all has been prescribed to you before i write more. i am so sorry, xoxo jody

  4. I;m late with advise but ice it…………..then use heat.

Keep resting. Don’t think you are “nearly” 100% and get active too soon. Just like when you think you are getting over a cold, doing too much too soon can cause setbacks. Gentle hugs.

Sending healing thoughts to you dear Corey~ God Bless your heart…rest, rest, rest some more.

  7. Good to hear you are beginning to heal. Be gentle with yourself and stop to smell the roses.

  8. SO SO HAPPY (relieved-more like it) TO HEAR THIS!! Call me crazy but I was thinking (worrying ) about the degree of hurt – backs are trickey entities-enjoy the laid back vibe this day has given you-looking forward to more good news-

Sounds lovely. I hope you continue to feel better and are back to your old self in no time. I love the image of the roses and open windows and baby caterpillar! And your title reminds me to suggest to you to watch (if you haven’t) the wonderful movie “Silver Lininngs Playbook.” I think you’d really enjoy it.

  10. Gratitude is always very helpful! I hope your back mends soon.

  11. Good to hear you are better! Consider a visit to the Dr.’s office to confirm all is well before you get up and go again.
We have lovely plants in our patio but the caterpillars are eating all the pretty flowers. I spray and spray then I go on caterpillar watch in the early morning to see if I can find them munching on the flowers. Maybe the caterpillar in your hair thought it was munching on a beautiful flower?
Take care and think healthy thoughts.

  12. Yeah!

  13. Glad you are feeling slightly better today. Keep on taking it as easy as you can for a while and get French Husband to do all the carrying for you at the next brocante!

Farmboy Husband is no masseur, either :-((( But I sure wish he were.
Hope you’ll make a doctor’s appointment ASAP (if you haven’t already) to get your back examined, in case it’s something more serious than we’re hoping (especially if imaging is indicated).

  15. P.S.
I am going to see an Osteopath tomorrow, I am certain that will do the trick.

Take care and I hope everything works out for you at the Dr. I had something similar with my neck and ended up going to a chiropractor, which did the trick.

  17. “This too shall pass” ……. said a urologist to a patient with kidney stones ;-).
Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better today and that you are going to see a doctor.

Glad to hear you’re better. Remember to KEEP ON taking it easy! Don’t over do too soon.

    (Did you use ice?)

I missed your post yesterday, but yes, five years ago I somehow twisted my back going down the stairs with a laundry basket. I was in bed for three days – unable to stand up without experiencing great pain. It happened again two years later when I twisted my back watering a plant. I am now very careful to only lift things straight on and have had no further problems. Nothing really helped except resting. So glad you are feeling better!

  21. I love my Osteopath – he’s ace.
He helped me enormously when I threw my back out PUTTING MY UNDERPANTS ON!!
But even after a visit to the Osteopath – your back will still be crook for a couple of days – so take it easy – but keep on moving so you don’t seize up.

  22. All the best, you had some wonderful advice yesterday. How wonderful to have so many good thoughts with you, I hope you are completely better in no time. yn

  23. So glad you are better. Take good care and get well.
