All Went Well, Quilting Group and Brocante Winner Giveaway

Group

The quilting group came for lunch.

They were lovely.

Though I only have this single photo to show for it, as my card reader decided to go on strike!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll find a new card reader. I will share more photos then.

Also Theresa and her husband David are spending a week with us (the first winners to come stay with us from my brocante week giveaway.) They love the brocante! So I love them!

More to come………

Oh la la… soooooooo many of you asked me, "Why I iron sheets?"

Well they are 19th century heavy cotton sheets, and either you have a ball of wrinkles to sleep on or something pristine and crisp.

I only iron the top part… I am not totally crazy.

My mother-in-law likes seersucker sheets. Not because that is a vocab word to stump many. No, becasue she feels ironing would not be needed. To me it means sleeping in aligned wrinkles.

  2. I confess. I have ironed pillow cases.

  3. Gosh I wished I was one of the lucky winners of a week of brocanting with you!
My mom always ironed the top sheet and pillowcases – I do it if I have time. But, after being raised that way, a bed never seems quite right if I don’t iron them.
Looking forward to more pictures of your day.

  4. Nice that you have brocante-loving friends staying with you! One more reason to go! …I love antiquing with friends because they usually see pieces in a different way than I do.

  5. super ~ I LoVe linen sheets ~ and a yummie lunch over there, I will sleep in a brocante….ha ha ha, Love it never been ~ much better there than the US ~ XO

  6. I remember being given a never used vintage Italian linen sheet and emailing you about if it needed to be ironed after each wash. Sure wish I’d kept the mangle!

  7. Thank you for clearing that up.

  8. 24/7 in France

I am choosy about sheet threadcount, for a silkier sheet feel, and like flanel ones in cold weather. I iron pillow cases when needed, but otherwise, non!

  9. France Finesse

Antiques, brocante, and vintage sheets = heavenly!

  10. My sister and I have always ironed sheets (at least the top part) and pillowcases. It makes the bed so much more special. People have always laughed when they learn that about us. Glad to know we aren’t alone! Enjoy the adventure of today.

Is everyone staying in the new Paris apt?

  12. Gladys Cramer

Corey, When you speak to a group there–are you speaking French or English? Although a number of times in Paris, I have always been hesitant to go to the countryside due to my lack of the language…. “My bad”, as they say here!

    Hi Gladys
The group was an American tour group. I spoke in English.

    Hi Country French Judi,
No. The Quilting Group is run by Jeanne Mills. Our apartment sleeps two. The group had 23 people.

  16. Isn’t there a country song, ‘lay me down on a bed of” antique ironed sheets? Or was the lyric a “bed of roses”? Looks like the quilting group ate well 🙂

  17. I would love to have been there, I would have swept up all those beautiful pieces of fabric for my vintage dolls.

  18. “The quilting group came for lunch.” Where was the luncheon held?
