When the Children are Home: Mom Blogs…

Back home

Back home. Alittle over eight hours door to door. We arrived around five in the morning. Chelsea, Sacha and French Husband took turns driving, I slept some, okay more than some. We did not see a speck of snow, it was dark. Still it didn't snow. Though once home it has been snowing off and on throughout the day.

Lunch at home

We went to bed. Each in their own room. Oh the comfort of being under one roof. I wanted to lock the door and throw away the key. Having my children both home at the same time is rare, wonderful and makes me want to do things like throw away the key.

Instead I made lunch.

French Husband started a fire in the chimney.

Soup on a snowy cold day.

Dessert was first with those sleepy little loved faces, we had lunch at four in the afternoon.

Holding hands

Sacha's girlfriend came over.

They sat together. I love love.

I love the stages of loving.

I love my children happy in love.

Mother's blog

Mother's blog.

Son's girlfriend.

And well this is all I get.

Time. These things take time. Gee, over a year and all I get to say is … not much and a photo of hands and a covered face.

I should know the blogging routine by now, the: "What I can write on my blog when it comes to my children." Chelsea's boyfriend is warming up to the idea of letting me use his real name… nearly six years later.

Small cloche

And so brother Mat, how can I add photos of my children when most the time I cannot even take their photo for the blog, or I should say I have to cut the other person out of the photo…

The brocante bug has no limits. A full ham in front of the camera.

Playing around, No Sacha is not wearing finger nail polish.

Entertaining mother.

Girlfriend's hand, and the boy.

Father and son

We sat, read, watched videos, talked and talked. Sat, drank tea and passed a very lazy day together. Driving through the night renders a lazy day. Luckily we could afford it.

Chelsea at home

Chelsea read over my shoulder exclaiming, "Mother! What are you talking about? There was snow when we drove home last night! It was snowing as we drove! You were sleeping."

Oh boy.

I was sleeping, it snowed. Only one thing is certain: I made soup today.

  1. How well the “children” look! I say…do not name names and do not show photos unless everyone is comfortable with it. Afterall Corey this is an extremely well read blog. It is lovely to hear that all is well with the family. I’m with you on the love part. The unfolding of a love story is so uplifting no matter the ages of the couple. Enjoy!

  2. Julie Loeschke

    You warm my heart.

  3. Ahhh Corey, there nothing better than cozyln’ on a snowy/rainy day with family. I am seeing your home and garden thru my minds eye in the snow….lovely. do you do thanksgiving….minus bird? Your day is my perfect day for the holidays….xo. you are something I am grateful for.

  4. What family fun! I love it!
When my daughter was pregnant she
said no pictures of her child on
my blog. Since she doesn’t check
regularly I have quietly put a couple
on of his silhouette or the back of his head.
Maybe when he is 6 I can show more. Family!
You gotta love them, it’s so easy, but still.

  5. I just laughed at Sacha’s photo and the nail polished finger, that is hilarious! Love it. My kind of humor.
Sweet sweet post, as I simply adore your point of view.
Enjoy your beautiful family all cozy and locked in.

  6. You want to share them with the world. You want to keep them locked away. Oh the inconsistency of unconditional love for our children!

  7. Lovely to see you have arrived home safely. Enjoy.

  8. December 15th we’ll be doing that here… We are blessed aren’t we?

  9. Corey, I always try to check out your decor in your home pictures:-) I learn a lot from others who love design. By the way, Restoration Hardware is selling a smaller, less detailed version of the giant bust in you living room (you know, the one I covet). I like that painting in the first picture.

  10. My 3 are all under one roof tonite. And of course now I can’t sleep because of all the noise..:)

  11. So glad to know you didn’t get snow, as I’d seen the forecast and was a bit concerned re your drive home. It’s supposed to snow here this weekend, for the second time this season. I’m sick of winter, and ready for spring!!!

  12. Yann and Sacha in that photo is like looking at Yann’s present and past selves sitting side by side.

I understand and share the impulse to lock the door and throw away the key when all of your family gets to be together. To all be under your home’s roof has become a rare treasure, and you bask in it. It is so amazing, and we are so fortunate, to see our children making their own lives, and yet how incredibly wonderful it is that they continue to choose to return to us. Your family, snow, soup, a cozy day together in your home in Provence…sounds like paradise to me! Thank you for telling us about it!

  19. You have such a beautiful and lovely family, the best thing you can have in life!
