The Back Door

The back Door

The back door is the front door in my childhood home. Everyone uses it except people who are selling something, or those coming to talk about religion.

The back door is a screen door. Painted black with a gold colored handle, that is worn down to silver shining like a beacon.

The back door is a simple door where you enter without knocking, and walk straight into the kitchen.

The back door is a key leading me to a rush of memories. It opens wide, lets me dive in, and swim in a pool of goodness.

  2. The back doors are the very best for saying
welcome, come on in. Beautiful image and
words. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I love the photo and your words, as always. You have a way of touching my heart with your words. You are right, “the back door is the front door…” to those we love.

  4. On our house it’s the kitchen-porch door, but otherwise the some phenomenon. We DO need to check, though, in case a delivery person has left a package we’re expecting on the front porch (the letter carrier knows to leave things on the kitchen porch).

  5. It is so healthy to check back in with our families. It seems you are doing just that and more! Soak in that love, Corey!

  6. Corey you have such a beautiful way with words and you always seem to find the perfect words to express your
deepest thoughts and feelings. It’s obvious that you have a heart of gold. I wish you would write a book.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends. Enjoy every minute with all of them and especially your mom.

  8. I LOVE this post, this was the same at our family home, I often wondered if the front door worked, as it stuck when opened, everyone drove to the back of the house, parked their cars, came in the back door unlocked 24/7 in those days of our neighborhood ~ I too love that memoy, it was designed so much like your back door……memories abound for me today ~ even though I am alone ! Ditto from me with Linda S’s comments: YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK! It would be a good “go to” book when you are feeling down. You have such a way with words, speaking from your heart. Put that book writing on your Bucket List!
