Three years ago when my hair was chin length, my five little nieces started to have their beautiful long hair cut. I was sad to see what felt to me was the beginning on their "growing up". Long hair symbolizes: Youth, innocence… a carefree spirit.
I wanted their long hair kept long,
I wanted to come home and see them as they were, "My little nieces".
I concocted a plan. One that would match the Amaro competitive spirit, a contest: "Who would have the longest hair the next time I returned to Willows." And so it began, a competion, a contest, a goal:
Who's hair would be the longest.
Maci had the longest hair for the third year in a row. Measuring 49 inches from the top of the head down to the longest hair.
Marie came in a close second,
a very close second,
with her hair measuring: 48 inches.
Marie is the tallest, passing Chelsea too, she is five-nine and still going.
That is a contest I would never win. Soon I will be the shortest in the family.
My niece Maci took my photo.
I came in third at 42 inches!
Shocking everyone.
My hair is not as thick as theirs, thought nevertheless thick for my age.
Single strands of hairs count: I have been baby-ing my hair (s) for over a year.
"Dang right those few long hairs count!" I declared, "Dyed, 55, and 42 inches long. I should be given extra inches."
They didn't go for given me extra inches.
Gina came in fourth. She turns Sweet sixteen this month, is going to the "Winter Ball" and feeling very teenage-y.
Gina has the thickest hair, so thick a brush cannot brush through it.
Hair length: 38 inches.
Molly came in fifth.
Molly's hair has grown the most. As her hair was chin length when we started.
Hair length: 37 inches.
Kate, or Kay-Kay, or Baby Cake tagged along.
Her blonde streaks were 33 inches.
And the contest continues… Will I ever win?
I already have, they all have long hair and the contest continues.
