Nearly Twenty Years Later

Meeting the Second Time

Our friend Philippe came over for lunch. Well, first French Husband and Philippe went on a mountain bike ride in the foothills behind our home. They do that often, and I am lucky enough to feed them when they come back.

While the guys rode their bikes, Alice and I hiked up Saint Baume. Before I left I put on a pot of white beans (Diced onions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, sage… double shot of cognac at the end.)

Anyway this isn't about their ride, or our hike, nor what we had for lunch.

So there we were sitting around the kitchen table having lunch when Philippe said to Alice, "I went to Australia, I stayed with friends of Corey's in Adelaide." I had completely forgotten about his trip to Australia… mind you it was nearly twenty years ago. I nearly spilled my beans when he added, "Yes, your friends had a baby…"

We all looked at each other with new eyes.

That baby was Alice.

Nearly twenty years later they met again.
