Each Saturday I focus on a different artist that I admire. From potters to painters, chefs to collectors, seamstress to songwriters, lifestyle to lovers… anyone who set the paintbrush, pastry brush, hands and heart on fire to create.
Those who inspire art to flow where it may.

Like many of us when we reach fifty plus we are at a point in our lives were our children may have left the nest, our careers are coming to a turning point, our parents are older, the top of the hill gives perspective and the horizon takes our breath away. We seek to seize the moment, to give what we have received and to walk, dance, run with grace.

"In the past year, as I grieve my mother’s death and struggle with health issues, in addition to all of the changes that are to be expected at my age, I have come face-to-face with the…thorns…the sometimes baffling, difficult, painful, unexpected sort of changes. I am also learning how normal and valuable some of these dark parts can be…or trying to. I have found the metaphor of the chrysalis, butterfly and metamorphosis very helpful and imagine I will continue to do so for years to come. When it gets overwhelming, messy and confusing, I remember that the caterpillar basically becomes mush within its lovely chrysalis, and yet somehow transforms into the wonder of a butterfly." One of Lesley's poetic postings: "Here I am on the threshold… I can and do look back at what I am leaving. I put my hand on the door, look through the glass, wonder what I will find on the other side… perhaps while I linger, I may carve a blessing in the wood of the lintel… but all that is really required is that I am brave enough to take the step…"
