The Color Red

Red checked cloth.

Red tomatoes, strawberries, cherries, rubies… Poppies!

Roses are red, though violets never are.

Red its a holiday color,

Red as in stop,

Red as in anger,

Red as in love.

Doors in France Red

"What is Red?"

Red is a sunset
Blazing and bright.
Red is feeling brave
With all your might.
Red is a sunburn
A spot on your nose.
Sometimes red, is a red red rose.
Red squiggles out when you cut your hand.
Red is a brick
And the sounds of a band.
Red is hotness
You get inside
When you’re embarrassed
And want to hide.
Fire-cracker, fire-engine
Fire-flicker red –
And when you’re angry
Red runs through your head.

Red is an Indian
A Valentine heart,
The trimmings on
A circus cart.
Red is a lipstick
Red is a shout
Red is a signal
That says, “Watch out!”
Red is a great big
Rubber ball.
Red is the giant-est
Colour of all.
Red is a show-off,
No doubt about it –
But can you imagine
Living without it?

But cannot cut.

Which make creating something nearly impossible.

Yet adoring pretty piles they do make.

The radishes are here. Three weeks early.

The French who have a love affair with dining have a certain way to eat radishes.

French Husband cannot eat them any other way.

How do the French eat radishes? Click here to find out.

While looking through my 90,000 plus photos for RED I stumbled upon my dear friend Erika's daughter Amelia. Oh sweet memories rushed in… several years ago they came and visited us, the above photo is from that time.

Pomegranates are red: Amelia in Willows.

And Amelia is Aix en Provence.

What is your favorite color of roses?

French Husband do you know mine?

I bet he doesn't. He will say, "You like violets?"

I would say, "The question is what color of roses?"

In which he would shrug his shoulders and say, "Purple?"

What color is your front door?

How I would love to have this one be mine…

Our front door is brown as in wood. French Husband says he doesn't want me to paint it. I would LOVE to paint it. Burnt Orange. But if I paint it he will not be a happy camper. I daresay he would be pretty upset. I am still working on him to change his mind.

  1. -smile- You feel a lot better, today! Your mood has returned, to your usual Corey-Mood.
Mmmmm, that, or you are still suffering from a dust-mood. But are determined to not be undermined by it. Mmmm, betcha’ that’s it!
Well whatever, the reason, it is a delightful Red Post!
Oh and that other blog… Even I could happily exercise, in a high rise, with windows overlooking La Tour Eiffel, at evening! :-)))))

  2. Molly has the most soulful eyes… I would paint the door orange too!

    From “My Little Paris”:
L’oreiller qui dit “Je t’aime”. Vous à Paris, lui à San Francisco… chuchotez des mots doux à votre oreiller, et il les transmettra à votre amoureux.
Mention my city and you have my vote.

  5. red is my favorite color-but white roses are my most favorite rose-I follow “my little paris” and have learned about some nice stores – I have purchased from-on line-sept cinq in Montmartre is one such store-they were not brocante items but a lovely bracelet and necklace made in paris-i am a sucker for anything French-my front door is white wood-I want to paint it red- bright red -like you see in china town— it would stand out in this neighborhood of white doors-I love the intensity of red-the fire of red- the heat of red- the daring of red- I love red-though never on my lips or nails-red in nature is SPECTACULAR-

Should you ever wind up with a surplus of radishes — a plight that occasionally befalls home gardeners — they make a lovely grated salad. Even slightly-tough radishes work, although not downright woody ones. G grate them in the Cuisinart, then place a mound of them atop a large lettuce leaf, top with the best blue cheese dressing and sprinkle with fresh-cracked black pepper.

  7. I agree on the favourite way to eat radishes – love mine with salted butter on simple bread, too. I never knew it as the “French way” though; I’m from Germany 😉

  8. Love red with touches of red in my kitchen and yes! A red door too.
