Friendship in Austria

Friendship in Austria

Nearly five years ago

French Husband and I rode our motorcycle through part of Europe.

On that journey we met up with a blog reader of mine, Lieselotte and her husband Dieter.

Trip to Norway…

Meeting Liesolette the first time…

From Vienna we took the train to Admont…

Heidi happiness made dimples in my cheek.

Between Merisi's and Lieselotte's culinary skills I am going to be ten pounds heavier,

with dimples in places I cannot mention.

Dimples.

Outside Lieselotte's kitchen window.

Looking out the other kitchen window.

Color as if the rainbow took root and bloomed.

Color that makes me want to give up black.

Give up black?

Well… I guess that means I need to go shopping.

I have one red with white polka dotted dress, and red fingernails.

That is a start.

We rode a red train through the countryside.

It was so darn beautiful.

Green everywhere. Vibrant gree. Green that shouted SPRING!

Snow capped wonders.

Von Trapp's echoing constantly in my head. Lilacs galore.

Austria makes my eyes pop out and my mouth drop open.

The countryside makes me want to climb mountains,

which means I am drugged by the beauty…

The mountains tempt me to wear hiking boots.

Hiking boots.

Austria is seducing me. Next I will be listening to Rosette Stone.

  1. Your photos are beautiful and your commentary inspiring. You and FH look like fashion models : ) Love FH’s haircut, and your scarf or blouse!

Spring always makes me long to fill up on color ! Great big gulps of clear colors. In my home, on my porch ,in my flower containers etc. Go for it Corey.

Blogging is amazing that way – friendships and beauty around the world. What a lovely trip. Oh black is hard to give up, good luck! I thought I wanted some flowers and got one shirt. It feels so strange to wear blue flowers.

A chronic scalp condition forced me to give up wearing black (or any solid dark color) above the waist, and, to my amazement, it was easy! And I’ve never looked back… Color can be so beautiful!

  5. Corey, really, the motorcycle trip was 5 years ago?!? OMGoodness . . . seems like only a few years ago. I remember reading your stories to my children each day . . . what I should remember is that they actually listened – times have changed, oh, teenagers – Ok, maybe it was 5 years ago. Loved that trip sharing it with you two. I remember feeling guilty cuz I would never get on my husband’s Harley – disappointed I still haven’t, even after the year we have had. It would make him happy. Thanks for the continuous inspiration!

Glad you are having a good time in Austria. Merisi and Liesolette look like wonderful hosts. And the Alps in the background, amazing!! What language is the common denominator, English or French?

  7. The views are unreal!
    Heaven!
You look stunning in black Corey!

Wow, was that really 5 years ago? I remember your motorcycle posts like it was yesterday. Gosh but Austria looks gorgeous..I’ve always wanted to go there (yes, “Sound of music” is a fave movie). Actually, we spent one night in Austria in between flights years ago. We walked at night down a very dark street to an Italian restaurant..we passed a gated field (could it have been a cemetery?) with many flickering candles all over..I wish I had asked what that was all about..it was pretty & magical looking.

Blogging or not, you would have made many interesting friends. You’re that kind of person!

  10. Checked in to see what is going on in your world today. What a life you have! I literally gasped when I saw this scene reflected in the water. A picture might be worth a thousand words but does not cut it when it comes to being there. I can see from the coffee, to the desserts, to the visuals I would be black & blue from asking, “Pinch me, is this for real.” Once again, thanks for sharing.

  11. gorgeous photos… sharing with us, places we will never see, for ourselves. thank you.
mmmmmmmm, changing clothing colors. clothes shopping! that sounds like fun. i can’t wait. 🙂

” No more chocolate, thank you”, was what Corey was saying when she left our home this morning. She didn´t say for how long, though. Zut alors, Zotter !

I’m like a lot of the people who commented here already.
Can’t believe I’ve “known you” for well over 5 years. It’s definitely time to meet in person. Next month!
