The Living Room ….

The Living Room ....

Dismantled everything.

Emptied the armoire.

Stacked in the center.

Kind of like the emptiness.

Should I go darker?

Paint one wall Farrow & Ball ointment pink?

The color painted is similar to Green Ground.

The Living Room ....

The living room/dining room is long and narrow.

The floor is 1800s terra cuite reddish tiles.

Not my favorite though I appreciate the history.

French Husband loves them, he wins. That is okay.

The stone wall (over 400 years old) with the floor tiles give the wall color a pink tint but it is greenish grey.

The Living Room ....

The Living Room ....

The room is far from complete.

The room should be done in three more days.

The ceiling in white.

Philippe the painter is meticulous, he is a keeper.

The Living Room ....

That tall armoire held a TON of stuff.

I dread putting it all back.

You would never believe how many dishes it held.

I cannot believe it.

I want to be wild like Contessa said. But safe like Marilyn suggests.

Oh dear, take care! Now is the time you can change things up, isn’t it? My personal opinion would be to stay light, but you can trust your heart to know what to do. You do have an artists eye.

First off your on my BLOGLOVIN FEED!
I like the sound of ointment pink!
But it looks like a dark place?GO DARK………….your jewels and those spot lights will add warmth.BE WILD!

White walls are also an option. 😉

  4. Go with your gut. Is it a democracy in your house on color choices or do you get to dictate. Love your living room and the light in it.

Seriously. I want to return to white walls. Let them be an empty canvas.

You have my distinct sympathy. I had to move tons of accumulated things (from estate sales not brocantes) from various wardrobes, armoires, cabinets of all sorts, when we had our carpet replaced with bamboo flooring in January. WHAT A HASSLE. The floors are beautiful, I got so tired of dealing with Stuff that I was able to part with some so off it went to Goodwill and someone else’s cupboards! The rest, the Stuff I truly loved, went back in place with more order/organization than before so that was good.
I look forward to seeing what color you pick!
And now I see why you’ve been posting just simple photos some days. busy girl!

  8. I’m also interested to see what color you ended up choosing. Sure you’re clearly underway by now. I might have gone for a warmer shade of gray (without the green cast to it). A cool color to contrast with the warm tiles and stone wall, but still nature inspired. Anxiously awaiting your wonderful choice.

The safe choice was that to tone down the red tones which dominate. Now, Paint on the Wild Side that other wall.

  10. Have you thought about Farrow & Ball Pigeon?
    Or Pavilion Grey. Or Blackened.
Love darks… white too. Have greens at home.
Whatever you do, I am sure it will be beautiful! You have great instincts!
(I think the problem with the pink is that it may not work with the tiles — would have to see them in situ. But grey works beautifully with those tiles…)

  11. Oh, Corey! How beautiful. Please forgive me if I walk right past you, in a trance. You are probably finished with the dining room by now, but I do agree with La Contessa. Then again, it’s hard to make a mistake with any of the Farrow & Ball paints.
