Ice Cream Selfies

Ice Cream Selfie

The first day of June.

Sunday.

Chelsea was home for the long weekend.

We went to Cassis to catch some sun.

Chelsea had an ice cream.

I sacrificed… because the night before Chelsea made Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I wanted some photos of us… so I thought to myself

Selfies!

If you know my daughter you know she makes faces, I begged no faces, big smiles accepted.

Now she is back on the TGV to Paris.

I told her, "I should have put a brick on your head when you were little so you wouldn't have grown up. I should have raised you dependant on me. I should have locked the door so you could have never left home. I miss you."

She gave me a goofy smile, "Mother," She says it in a tone that implies serious ding dong, "If you had done that I would have been miserable and you would have had an unhappy daughter."

Oh well she is right, but still.

Ice cream AND being in the lovely village of Cassis on the sea — a double-dip of happiness!
P.S. I for one actually LIKE Chelsea’s goofy facial expressions.

  3. Your daughter is beautiful! And I want an ice cream now.

That is called a job well done!
As Frank and I prepare to send our youngest off to college in August I have been trying to prepare myself emotionally for our “emptynesters” phase. Whereas I am so happy and proud that our children want to leave, go off to college and develop their own lives, I’m also a little sad. I just can’t believe they all grew up so quickly.

  5. Corey, you are both so beautiful. Love and a totally tight relationship shines right through the selfies. And, I feel the same way about my daughter, Caroline, who will be a junior in college next year. I am home now, waiting for her to get home after spending the weekend with her boyfriend and his family. So glad we both raised strong confident daughters . . .but, would give anything to re-live one day ten years ago.

  6. Great photos! Chelsea is beautiful-just like her mother. This afternoon the neighbor kid who mows the lawn aka Lawn Boy, came over and did garden chores. Then he said he was going to go to the local hamburger place to get a burger etc., asked if I wanted him to bring back anything for moi. Expecting delivery of an oreo or butterfinger shake shortly! Life is good…

  7. So cute! Love the selfies and the happiness portrayed here.

Sweet sweet sweet. Sweeter than the sweet treats, both of your sweet faces.
    Blessings.

  9. Miss you two! xo to you and Chelsea xo N & P

Yes, congratulate yourself on raising independent children. I know a sad case in which a daughter now in her mid-thirties was brought up to be dependent on her mother and has never left home. Isn’t it wonderful, though, when your independent children visit you and you have those sweet days with them?

  11. OMG COREY!NIcholas, calls me MOTHER TOO!!!!!!!!
