Painted a Pale Color

Painted a Pale Color

Painted a pale color.

I am not that brave to go with color…

Though I wish I could have taken the risk.

Sure it is just paint, but paint it is which equals time, effort and money.

Pale is safe.

I have yet to put everything back on the walls. The bare look is growing on me.

Bare walls that is a first.

The pictures are collected dust as they are stacked in a corner.

I am glad everything is restored, painted and fix after the fire.

It feels good to have clean back in my life.

  1. Corey it looks lovely with the bare walls. When we moved into our home three years we decided to not hang the many many pieces we had in previous homes. Now, three years later, things are going up slowly but I think I will always need a mix of bare walls and artwork. It’s so restful.

  2. Pale is calming, a “safe haven” to me, more than “playing it safe”. I’ve done lots of color over the years, but now love pale greys, darker ones, too- & pale blues in the newer, not pastel-y ones. I love to use creams, whites, with black accents. The master bedroom is creams, shabby whites, accents of blue & no TV ever… My new bathroom countertops are white, plain white, with oval, darker grey sinks! Love ’em! That’s why your decorating talents speak to me!
p.s.- I so enjoyed receiving your recently sent package of “brocante bits” with the 2 small crystals! They’re already hanging in my bathroom window with others, lovingly collected over the years… thanks again!

  3. It seemed like your room only had a window at one end and could be dark with a darker color. I think this is just beautiful!

Such calmness of these shades provide an appropriate backdrop to your colourful world. You bring a rainbow of stories, brocante finds, personalities, food and drink. Merci for you already colour our world!

  13. Beautiful Corey. what color did you use?

  14. If vibrant colors are obsessed with energy and freshness, dull colors has their own charm with subtle, simple and soberness. So there is nothing like ‘risk’ or ‘audacity’ to take that risk my friends. It is all about personal preference and how life has treated us. Colors are mere reflections of our inner self 🙂

so sorry to hear about this fire after so much work, I use your color color in my rental properties, works for male/females alike, I love silver sage color from Restoration Hardware in the deep south along the coast in Florida, so cooling when coming inside from the heat here, I used it in my home with Ralph Lauren pure white trim, doors, and baseboards, silver sage can be mixed with everything, once I painted my entire house a pale pale pale pink, used black and white stripped fabrics here and there, men loved it, people looked good in the color, light changed it, brown was divine with it….a Benjamin Moore color….I loved it too…..LOVE your place, LOVE IT! xo

I would kill, not really, for that sofa in that picture, I love to have a French bed or daybed, I need to get to that brocante, ha ha ha, but more, I need to live in France….visit Paris but live in a quaint place as yourself, more my cup of tea ~ xo

  18. I always love bright colours initially, but find myself tired of them very quickly and wishing I’d gone with a paler shade of anything. You can always add colour with your throws or cushions or things hung on the wall that can be switched up when your eyes need refreshing.
One thing I don’t see the sense of is the idea that bright colour in the decor is adventurous and pale colour is not. Choice of paint colour does not make a person adventurous or otherwise. It’s a silly notion we’ve bought into from those who sell paint and want us to re-paint every year according to the “trends.”

  19. It’s lovely. Glad the misfortune is behind you. Having survived a devastating home fire years ago, I still relate to the process and relief once you are able to reclaim your space and lifestyle. Best wishes. Oh! Laughed so hard when viewing French Husband asleep in the town square. Great job editing the photo montage & thanks for sharing.

  20. Beautiful choice. It is so warm, calm and inviting! I love it.

  21. I am smiling also! You will know when and what to put there in time, enjoy the calm for now!
