If you saw a 404 Page yesterday when trying to log on to my blog this is why.

Typepad went down AGAIN. Typepad the server I use to create and post my blog has been hacked by the infamous Ddos several times in the last month. Yesterday, Typepad suffered problems their upstream provider which put my blog (and million others) down.

Also due to the above, plus the subscription reader (blog sent to you by email) as many of you use to read my blog, has had problems. Typepad is working on them as I type.

It has been frustrating not to be able to blog when I want, to receive countless emails wondering "Where are you?", and not be able to do anything but to wait it through.

Lately, I have been told that when some of you click to read my blog a 30 second ad appears before my blog post opens. Again frustrating, Typepad is working on managing the internal hiccups

In the nearly eight years that I have been blogging I have missed putting a blog post online twice, both due to the inability to access my blog through Typepad. Yesterday was one of those days.

Thank you for sticking with me during this mess. In the meantime you might want to try BLOGLOVIN a free email subscription to read my blog.

  1. I gather and read blogs via feedly, which was affected seriously by the same sort of attacks for 3 days (June 12-13th). I am frustrated by these attacks, which in feedly’s case were attempting to extort money.
What a world we live in. It’s wonderful to connect with encouraging people like you, Corey, but also it is discouraging to know what some folks are capable of, that has far reaching effects.
Bottom line: the light overcomes the darkness, to use a phrase from the Bible. Be encouraged today, is my prayer. And thanks for blogging!

  2. I would muddle through every kind of mess and wait as long as necessary to read your blog and all the comments that follow.. all that comes to life here is SO WORTH IT!

  3. Poor typepad. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much trouble with them since I first started my blog in 2006. Hopefully they’ll get it under control. And nope, I didn’t see an ad on your other post when I clicked on it today from bloglovin.

  4. I have only recently discovered bloglovin. It is quite nice for reading blogs on my phone (I know, totally sick!) when I am trapped in a boring place with only my phone for mental stimulation” thank you for all of th beauty you give. Don’t worry about posting every day, I can never keep up anyway. Xxoo

What a huge inconvenience and frustration for you, Corey. Hope this is the last of Typepad’s woes.

Sorry you had to deal with all this. In any case, your blog is worth the wait, however long.

Yep, I was one of those looking for your blog (at 3 a.m.-ish YOUR time, as I was having trouble sleeping) and got the dreaded 404. I continue to be impressed and amazed (and thankful) that you post every single day. Even when I’m that follower who only checks in ever 3-4 days and enjoys riches of 3-4 of posts when I do. I was reflecting on how long I’ve been following your posts, and how transparent you are with what you share (selectively, I know you don’t share the bad — I really had no idea about the big fire until you reported it getting things sorted out finally. Was that my missing it or your selectivity?) It’s a gift to us out in cyber- and Corey-land.

  8. Knock on wood, but I have been unaffected… no trouble at all with your site, and still receiving the emails. 🙂
My trouble has been a slow internet connection, and an old laptop…
Poor typepad; if it is indeed an extortion attempt, I hope that typepad will come out on top.
