Wish me Sweet Dreams

If I had a red cape I would be ready to fly.

I am bionic woman.

Hooked up to yards of wire and tape.

Sleep apnea testing.

The doctor said,

"…rate the following

1) never

2) seldom

3) more often than not

4) always.

I said,

"I don't like to answer Always or Never."

He tilted his head as if to say,

"Seriously?"

He asked me to rate the following:

1) Do you fall asleep while driving?

2) Do you fall asleep within 30 minutes when someone else is driving?

3) Do you fall asleep within 30 minutes after reading in bed?

4) Do you fall asleep when you are relaxing with friends after a meal?

5) Do you fall asleep…

I answered every question yes.

After several more questions the doctor asked me,

"Are you ever awake?"

"I think so…" then I realized he was being funny and not expecting an answer.

Wish me sweet dreams!

I told the doctor,

"Hey, I don't think I can fall asleep tonight with these wires every where on my body!"

He doubted my response, and laughed, "We will see."

  1. Bonne nuit Corey, à demain xx

  2. Sweet dreams, Corey. Good luck sleeping with all of the paraphernalia. I hope the sleep study leads to more restful nights.

  3. Good night/sleep tight, don’t let the sensors bite!

  4. Boa noite, amiga!

  5. Hope you are sleeping tight as I write this! And I hope the study helps!
Me too, I have to go for a sleep study — they called from the hospital to book the date on Friday — here you wait about a year to get the testing (how long did you have to wait?)
I always fall asleep when putting the kids to sleep… and my husband says I stop breathing when I sleep… in my dreams, I cannot breathe because of mucus; it is so frightening I wake up, only to find that it is reality, not a dream…

I toss and turn so much I’d be all tangled in the morning.
David did this test years ago and came home with a snapshot of himself all wired up, for my amusement.
He had a heck of a time getting used to his cpap and finding one that would work with his beard and mustache; now he not only is used to it but loves/needs it so much that he lugged it to France with him. And got a battery so he could sleep well with it on our little boat too.
Sweet dreams, and may they find useful solutions for you!

  7. nite, nite!
    hope it helps!

  8. A friend of mine did this test and left early after a dispute with an attending nurse.
I’m sure you’ll have smooth sailing. Do they let you bring in a bottle of wine?

  9. Picture please:) I fall asleep and then wake up about 4-5 hours later and have trouble getting back to sleep. Sometimes I listen to meditation tapes. It helps. I always look outside and think about the night sky. I feel so safe when it is dark and quiet outside. I have a friend who worked nights for years and could fall asleep anyplace! We went to China together and all the Chinsese people thought she had some kind of disease or was drunk, lol! She would knod off in a taxi and her head would bob back and forth like she had a liquid lunch! I can’t wait to hear about your results. Very interesting.

  10. Sorry about all those typos! Chinsese? Knod? I’m really tired…

  11. Sweet dreams, Corey.
I had a sleep study about two years ago and would have sworn I didn’t sleep, but I did.

  12. sweet dreams…..peace be with you and your spirit!

  13. My husband did sleep testing…snored his way through it all. Slept much better in the sleep lab than he does at home. I have only started having sleep issues since arriving in my 50s. Not fun!
    Take care, Corey!

  16. Hope all goes well! JeanPaul did this excercise. He liked it because he got a free breakfast in the morning. I hope you got one, too.

I have been sleeping with a CPAP machine since I was found to have apnea about 7 years ago. Apnea is more than just falling asleep during the day. You actually stop breathing for extended periods while you sleep. This is extremely hard on the heart and can be deadly. It starves the body of oxygen. I sleep great and feel more energy during the day. An added bonus that my wife loves…I stopped snoring the day I started using the machine. If you need to start using a CPAP machine, it’s uncomfortable at first and takes a couple weeks to get used to it. I have trouble sleeping without it now. Good luck.

  19. Best wishes, Corey and the sweetest dreams. Great you’re being tested for this which has become very common these days.

  20. this is hilarious, a dr., just told to do this, is this a trend with Drs.? never the less, I was told to bring my “stuff” to sleep I wanted……same questions to me, I am with you always and never, when do I fall asleep, all depends…..ha ha ha…
