The Throne at the Beginning and at the End of the Race

The Throne

About a week ago my daughter Chelsea asked me to run a 10km in Paris this March. Considering I cannot even run around the block, nor can I run up the two flights on stairs in our home (The houses in the French countryside are usually two or three floors upright verses one floor sprawling out. Hence stairs.) I opted for the 5km walk.

Since then I have been walking 5 to 7km nearly every day. As we live at the mountain's base flat ground is not easy to find. My goal is to walk faster than I do now it is a race after all.

I'll be going back home to visit my family in a few days time, my brother Zane walks 5 miles a day. I am going to join him… I think… but then again he told me he walks fast, and early in the morning. Gulp.

Towards the end of my walk there is a tree cut in a way that looks like a natural throne. I admire it whenever I pass by. I long to take someone's photo on it. I also imagine sitting on it victoriously after the race in March.

What is a goal of yours?

If you are interested in doing the race in March in Paris with me let me know.

  1. One of my goals is to learn to speak French! Wouldn’t it be fun if we could all join you for the walk?!

  2. Oh wouldn’t that be fun to walk with you there. Good luck keeping up with you brother.
One of my goals is just to get more immersed into taking pictures and noticing what there is to notice.

  3. I would love to do this walk with you!

When I was 60, I speed walked my first 5k, after a “challenge” from my daughter. Since then, I’ve done several 5k and a quarter marathon. You can totally do this! I’m 63, and if I end up in Paris in March, I will join you!

My goal is to help encourage those who are trying to achieve their goals. Thus; GO COREY GO! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  6. My goals are:
    Have your home.
Have every thing in your home.
Try to have you adopt me.

  7. I am going to give this serious thought. The train from Munich is not bad, and participating would be exhilarating!

My goal is… to discover what fabulous photo editing magic you employed to get the throne shot looking so perfectly folk-tale fantasy!

  9. XiijnTEXAS FRANCOPHILE

My goal is to get a new knee and then walk like a crazy woman. Meantime I’ll just swim.

  10. 9,000 steps a day on my Fitbit which will help me toward losing my next 15 lbs!

  11. Goal? Get more of my book manuscripts finished and published, and translate a new book.

  12. COUNT ME IN! I’ll be there! Can’t wait. I’m a walking fool from now until March!

To walk more than 40 minutes a day, and walk fast! My old dogs can slow me down….and except the fact that I’m 58 and my face is falling down, down.

  14. Holy smokes! I think i can join you. I would love to meet you in Paris for the 5K walk. I’m just a Eurostar ride away.

  15. wonderful walking…..been awhile since here, computer issues, missed a lot! I walked 12,000 + steps yesterday, it is wonderful….this is close to 7 miles….birds, quiet, stillness, really grounds me. I am hooked too, and the weight is coming off….eat a bit every 4 hours….you will Do Great Corey, with others too you get to share this time, wonderful ! XO

  16. My goal is to win the running up the stairs contest against my daughter, instead of sliding into a fall on the second floor landing (socks on slippery wood floors). “Mom, you’re not 68 anymore” laughs Sarah after I confirm I’m ok and she races past me to the third floor of her house. Actually, my real goal is to keep moving!

  17. I’d love to…when is it?

  19. I would love to do the walk with you Corey. My goal is to walk more with my dogs and get rid of my back pain. In the meantime I pray for my husband’s healing, for him to himself back… I want to find time to write more and take pictures too! I want MY life back.

  20. “get himself back to himself”. This new goal has lifted my spirits!!! Thank God for you Corey 🙂
