The French Experience

Unfortunately, after three years of co-creating and leading the French Muse, with Ruth our paths are taking a different turn. Ruth and I will both continue to do what we love and enjoy but we will not be doing it together. Ruth will keep the name and I will keep doing what I have been doing with you my followers, friends, and family sharing my passion about France especially Provence, the brocante and those tender musings that stir my imagination and heart here on my blog, Facebook, and Instagram.

The pure pleasure of sharing what I hold to be true and beautiful with those who want to discover and claim it as your own. The ease, the energy, the joy of being with those of you who have come over to experience France, who love exploring and soaking their senses with Provence. Who love the brocante, the countryside, the backroads, the everyday simplicity of daily life, the narrow streets, the cheese, the crusty bread and glass of wine, the two kisses on the cheek and everything that comes with being in France. How lucky I am to be able to continue doing what I love.

The week-long experience begins when we pick you up in Marseille around ten in the morning. Most guests come in the day before and stay in Marseille. I can provide a list of hotels and things to do and see in Marseille before I meet you for our time together. Our time together starts on a Tuesday morning and end the following Tuesday morning. At the end of your stay, I will take you to the airport or to Marseille train station. Note that if you are taking a plane home at the end of your stay I will take you to the airport by nine in the morning please make flight arrangements accordingly.

We are based in Saint Zacharie, a village between Marseille and Aix en Provence staying in my four hundred-year-old home which is in the center of the village where the bakery is around the corner, the church bells call out, and where sixteen fountains sing. Each guest will have their own room and shared bath. We will venture out every morning to explore a different area of Provence we will have lunch out and be home early evening for dinner.

As most of you know, I am married to Frenchman. Have had children in France, have had to learn how to speak French and be French with an accent and recreate myself in a new country and after thirty years feel more French than American.

Want to experience France by truly venturing the back roads, and seeing the popular places with new eyes?

Let me show you what makes me smile everyday.

I want to share what I love about Provence:

The old things found at flea markets, second hand shops and friend's attics. The ever-changing landscape dipped in color, that scents my table and weaves throughout my lifestyle. I take pleasure in the day to day beauty which has helped me create my home. Because of this passion, I am a curator of past memories, stories and faded time which is found at the brocantes and is the cornerstone of this country's deep rich history.

I aim to create a very personal authentic journey into Provence. Crafted to let you connect with what my family and I treasure and hold true about this place we call home. Most of the places we will visit are not open to the public rather located in homes, and artists that rarely open their doors to anyone unless family or friend. We will stay in my home and I will cook for you, and Yann will be there too.

Yann and I are fortunate to know many other kindred spirits who want to share their artistic world with you, and at the same time, we will explore the day to day beauty that is Provence, by going to the seaside, visiting villages and markets which is a must for inspiration.

Become French with me, by connecting with local artists, potters, le boulanger, winemakers,la couturière, brocanteurs, storytellers, dreamers, and petanque players.

If you do not know some of the words above, you will when you experience Provence.

        The adventure continues.

When you come to France you will join me, even if it is simply to drop in and say hello.

My family and I were in France last summer, wondering around the village of Lacoste, and happened to stumble upon Ruth in her beautiful little pop-up shop. We were immediately smitten with Ruth and her talents. She allowed my daughter-in-law, a photographer, to take many photos of her and her beautiful creations, some of which Ruth has since used in her blogging. She and my daughter-in-law have become somewhat long distance friends who share a love of beautiful things. You can check out my daughter-in-laws gorgeous photographs on her blog, viewfinder.com.
I’m sure that your new endeavor with Ruth will be an awesome one!

  23. Beautiful. What a wonderful experience with you as a guide.
