Star Light, Star Bright

For Star,

I have been blogging everyday for over nine years. Star's first comment on my blog was back in June 2006.

Star has been with me, reading my blog, encouraging me, praying alongside of me, giving me many reasons why I blog. If I stopped blogging, I would miss the conversations, the communications, the joy of knowing you, of sharing a life in spirit.

You have been a Star in my life.

Yesterday, I asked, "What would you like to see in Paris?" And I would try to take a photo of it while here. Star asked for a sign of hope because she is facing a serious health issue:

Star wrote:

"Facing a rather serious medical issue…can you make a postcard that says "hope" ? If not (and even if you do!) I will appreciate prayers for His healing mercies."

Today, I sought symbols of hope for Star. I walked around Paris: The sky was blue, spring showed its face, trees first signs of green, flowers in bud, babies in strollers, lover's kissing, children giggling, outdoor cafes full, unbuttoned coats, birds singing, clouds floating by without threatening rain…

Hope.

When I came home I went through my photos and none of them carried the feeling I hoped for my Star.

So I went back to my blog and looked up Star's comments thinking to myself, "I will find when she gave me hope and share it back with her."

Several hundred comments… I knew I knew you for a reason! So I went back to the first comment. And there like the grace of God you wrote:

"I love your Poetry Thursday contribution.

It challenges each of us to try to become

"a word of hope"

for ourselves and others."

You

are

HOPE.

Such hope!

  5. Dear Star – connected as we are through the magic of this blog – hoping for you the very best and sending prayers and love

  6. Sobbing here as I read your words, Corey. Thank you for giving hope wings and setting it free to fly across the ocean to fill me up.
And thank you to your readers for their generosity of heart as they add their prayers to your own. They mean more than you know.

  7. May the healing vibes of the universe & the blogging community reach out to Star in her time of need.

Lovely Corey, hugs and hope to Star.

As I stare out my window searching for a star of hope, I’m attentive to the bird chiming his morning notes. Every morning this week a sole migratory bird sings outside my urban window in France with his tune. A sort of melody of chirps ranging from 6 to 10 twitters with interludes of hope. Imaginary in appearance for now (until I figure how to Google him for you, Star)

  10. Chico Sue

I offer Star another humble, sincere prayer of HOPE.

  11. Praying. My favorite verse is Romans 15:13.

    Dear Hope
I am sending you warm, bright and chirpy good cheer from New Zealand….it comes with the last of the summer sun and the first of the autumn gold as our weather changes in the opposite direction to yours.
You sound to me like your name fits you like a glove.
    Hugs from NZ
    Jennie

  16. For Corey and Star
Writing a blog, connecting people across the globe, staying the course over many years, never giving up…is the epitome of hope in all things and for all people.
    I am awed.

  17. well said! and second it!

  19. Linda R.

Beautifully written, Corey. Also, upon first glance, I would have said the drawing was of Chelsea.

  20. “Hope” is the thing of feathers
    That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
    and never stops at all…
    By: Emily Dickinson
Sending love, prayers and healing energy to your way, Dear Star.

  21. For Star…. First I want to say Never Ever Give Up! As I lay in bed one night, still after years and years of struggle of trauma and health issues …I didn’t think I would live through the night. I went in to my computer and 3 messages from people that did not know me …. said “Never Ever Give Up!” So, now these messages are coming to you from Love and Heart through Coreys’ wonderful blog community. “HOPE” …grab a hold of it and Believe! Also, LISTEN for answers to whatever it is that you are addressing, they might come from unexpected people/places as you are open to searching. This is sharing a bit of my experience in hopes to help you. My prayers are for you too.
Corey …. you do not know but your blog has been so much joy for me going through some terrible trials … Thank you. We all love what you Give here!

  22. Irene Thomas

    Dear Star…(such a beautiful name),
As a survivor of a serious illness, I can only offer myself as HOPE. My thoughts are with you at this time. May you have peace, as well.
Thank you Corey for your messages.

  23. Hope, perfect in every way hope. Words of hope, prayers of hope and light and love for Star. Holding a special time for prayers for you Star as the challenges find the exit door and leave you strong and whole.
    The Picasso is perfect, Corey.

  24. Star and Corey,
To quote the Apostle Paul, “Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts….” Romans 5:3-5
    Prayer are being offered!

  25. Thank you, Marilyn, for the blessing you leave here for me.

  26. Martina, thank you for offering up your wishes in the comments here. I will be returning to this post time and again to drink in the sweet nectar of kindness from this wonderful community of readers.

  27. Your love and prayers are so appreciated, Monika. The outpouring here fills my heart and buoys my spirit.

  28. There can never be too many prayers. I believe there is power where two or more are gathered (even if the gathering place is a virtual one). Thank you, Bonnie Gale!

  29. Debbie, I appreciate your love and prayers and especially that you and so many others have gone one step further by posting here that you are praying. Corey’s words and the words in this community of comments are the visible/tangible expressions I need right now.
It also drives home to me the importance of dedicating 60 seconds to posting in comments when I am uplifting others here in my own prayers. So many here continue to be in my prayers beyond the initial post or comment and I need to let them know that.

  30. I’ve printed out this verse and will place it where I can see it often. Thank you for sharing it, Susan.

  31. Thank you, G. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

  32. I’m tuning in my radar to receive those healing vibes, Jenny, thank you!

  33. Changes in circumstance can serve to whittle down the list of important things, and right now hugs and hope are on my short list. Thank you Diogenes.

  34. Jend’isère – Nature is my love language and your description here allows me to “see and hear” that very bird. We have sparrows that bring their morning chirps to a bush outside one of our bedrooms, alerting us to the break of day before the sun’s rays have breached the horizon. Your comment goes straight to me heart!

  35. Thank you so much, Chico Sue. I wish I could hear your prayer; I believe He hears the soft-spoken, plain words of a humble heart with appreciation (and so do I!).

  36. To Corey,
Thank you for your blog that connects and gives us all a chance to care and participate in the healing of us all.
    To Star,
Remember always that you are a perfect child of God and have within you the love and strength to live with vitality and well being. You will meet your challenges knowing that you share that love and support with many others who care.
A source of positive thought and healing exists online at the site of Anita Moorjani. Hers is a story of miracles that she shares through her books, talks and interviews. I have found so much understand and healing from her words and you may too.

  37. Susan, thank you for praying. I wonder if He tires of hearing my own; I am grateful to have others lifting me up to Him.

  38. Thank you so much, Pam. Corey’s post and the comments here truly are comforting and encouraging.

  39. Soaring prayers…I love to visualize what that must look like! Thank you for expressing your support in this way, Kiki. I know there will be acceptance whatever unfolds, but I can only focus on healing at this moment because I know He is able.

  40. Oh, Jennifer, I’ve never been Down Under and seldom think of our differing seasons. Thank you for the cheerful thoughts and lovely description of this change that is taking place where you are. It reminds me of a line from The Sound of Music “When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window”. I need to hold that thought close.

  41. Yes, Jackie, I agree that Corey has brought together many faithful readers and today I am the one who reaps the reward for her years of dedication.

  42. Corey’s words are just one of the many gifts she has been given. Today, her words bring beauty and hope to my day.

  43. I *love* that quote, Alena, and my focus is so narrow right now that it was far from my thoughts. Thank you for bringing it back to the surface to speak to my heart–and thank you for your love, prayers and healing energy.

  44. Thank you for your testimony on behalf of perseverance. My thoughts shift from one thing to another without rest. One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 46:10 and your message here tells me I need to spend some time just trying to be still and listen. Thanks so much for your encouragement borne of your own experience, Beverly.

  45. You are a postcard for hope, Irene. Thank you for being the example I need to keep in front of me right now.

  46. Ushering this out the exit door…I like the thought of that, Kristin. It is so refreshing to come here and find many willing to speak aloud of praying for others; it is not something I encounter in my workplace or day-to-day associations. Thank you, thank you!

  47. I have verses that I return to time and again, but I am finding that when placed under stress of unexpected circumstances that I should be keeping a larger arsenal of verses at the ready. Thank you for sharing the words of Paul (who was changed in a mighty way himself), Bev. “Hope does not disappoint us”–I need to read more in that chapter.

  48. Helene, thank you for this reference. I believe I have read a bit about Anita Moorjani before and will seek her out once more based on your recommendation.
I am so grateful for the outpouring of good wishes here. Although Corey and I have never met in person, she truly feels like a member of my family. Her honesty in sharing about her own family and friends over the years have brought them close to my own heart and one cannot help but pray for those that are dear to them.
Thank you for being part of the community of love and support you mention, and thank you for the reminder of the powers He instills in us as He dwells within each of us.

  49. would love to see more of your apartment photos in Paris
and of your residence now that your pics are the neighbors in the stone villa..what does your place look like? 🙂

Corey this is just so beautiful. And Star I feel hope surrounding you and embracing you. Sending you hope and prayers.

  51. Liane Partridge

I have put a white light on you Star and I have made my decision that you WILL shine through! And to you Corey, I thank you.

  52. Thank you for your vision of hope and prayers, Michelle. I’ve returned to these comments many times in the last couple of days. They are truly encouraging.

  53. Liane, thank you for this positive decision; I am drawing on your strength and the strength and prayers of all who have commented here.

  54. jend’isère

I listened for the bird early this morning but heard littel over the winds and rains. Or perhaps he flew to the Alps outside that window to sing to the families of the alpine plane crash? I will listen again from tomorrow morning on…

  55. A warm embrace to you Star.
    Sending you positive energy,
    have courage, please go on.
    You are strong.

  56. Goose bumps. Corey, you are such a blessing. Yes, Star, prayers for strength and healing. You are wrapped in the caring thoughts of so many.

  57. Shelley Noble

How beautiful that your heart lead you to uncover how Star’s gift was her own. Giving her own strength and wisdom back to her. Thank you both for such a reminder.
Blessings to Star, to Corey, to us all.

  58. Blessings and prayers for Star. She will be kept in my prayers. Since Dec.7 when my dad had a stroke, was on life support, my mom had a serious bi-polar episode, and now we find out the Sheepfarmer’s lungs need treatment with a round of chemo after being “clean” from bowel cancer for 4 years… Prayers are what link humanity. Your blog is my prayer. THANK YOU Corey.

  59. Beautifully said Star – adding you to my prayer list

  60. Thank you, DeannaC, I appreciate your support so much. This post and these comments have become a daily touchstone for me as I continue to ask for His wisdom to know what is right to do.

  61. Nature is where I feel His presence most. Thank you for continuing to listen, Jend’isère.
Adding my prayers to your own for those with loved ones in the crash.

  62. Thank you for your encouragement and warm embrace, Aina. It is good to feel that I am held in the thoughtful arms of someone who cares.

  63. Corey’s words and the comments left here continue to wash over me with the love and care expressed (and I need it!). Thank you so much for your continued prayers, Gail.

  64. Thank you, Shelley, for sharing the part of Corey’s words that called most strongly to you–that each of us has inner strength beyond what we imagine. Continuing to seek that still small voice that imparts the wisdom I so need right now.

  65. Oh, labergerebasque, thank you for your prayers. You and your family are surely in my prayers as well. As you say, they are our link to one another.

  66. Always remember you are not alone. There is hope even in the darkest hour. You are loved. We are here for you…

  67. Thank you, Mimi, for the assurance that Corey’s wonderful group of readers is, indeed, here for me. I appreciate the words here so much…they are sustaining me as I read and re-read them daily.
