Irises, my favorite. The roses look like what we call wild roses. Lovely.

You’re a good six weeks ahead of us on Spring flowers — just starting to have daffodils open here. Can hardly wait till we catch up with you!

It is such a fabulous season, every morning some new form of life has emerged in the garden, here in the Charente Maritime our wisteria is just coming into flower, the daffodils are all finished and we have moved on to the irises and the first roses in bud

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
If you’re interested check out the 5000 poppies project. I left some of these poppies on graves of unknown Australian soldiers while visiting France and Belgium in 2013. One of them my husband’s ancestor.
