Seven Years Ago

Seven

Seven years ago today my father passed away….

We see you Dad, yes we see you in the rice fields as they flood and take root. We see you in the eyes of your grandchildren and in all those that loved you. We hear you in the memories that are stored in our hearts and that are told and retold and remain vibrate for eternity. We hear you with each Ninety, Harley, Honda and skid of the bicycle wheel. We hear you when we turn on the radio and see Mom grabbing one of the grandchildren to teach them to jitterbug in the kitchen. Oh yes Dad you are here I see you in the eyes of those who loved you, of the many familiar faces, I see you greeting them with your sideways smile and easy laugh.

We see you as the seasons turn, unfold and render… We have an abundant harvest in your love and you are missed…"

  11. Corey, that was such a wonderful tribute. Mr. Amaro was an amazing man, beloved and respected by his family and friends. Admired by your readers and others who only met him via your writing. Thinking of you.

One never really lets ones loved ones go after death. When my father took my sister (8yrs old)and me (4yrs old) for a walk to explain why he and mommy wouldn’t be living together any more, he told us he would be with us whenever we looked up at the moon. Nearly seventy years after that conversation, and seventeen years after my father’s death, I remember my dad whenever I look at the moon. You are also blest to have so many fond memories of your father!

  21. Such a beautiful tribute it brought tears to my eyes. I remember your vigil at your fathers bedside. My father has been gone for 53 years and my mother is soon to be 91 yet every year we remember June 29th and reflect on who he was and our lives with him. We too were loved. Thanks for sharing your beautiful words.

  22. Love never dies. It stays here in our hearts so
that we can cherish and savor the moments ….
and have them close to us always.

  23. Warm hugs and a side ways smile. (watching you on accidentalartistonline right now. Nice hearing your voice!)

    Thankyou

  25. Remembering a lost loved one on a special anniversary is one of the best ways to pay tribute to that person. I hope you do something special for yourself to honor the love you feel for your father.

  26. Such a sweet tribute to your dad, Corey. And because of you and your blog, his memory lives on also in people who were never fortunate enough to meet him in person. I think of your stories about your family, especially your dad and the rice fields, whenever the news talks about the farmers and the drought here in California. Yours’ and his stories have helped me )and probably many others), remember the real people behind those news stories. Blessings to you and your family.

And so I’ve “known” you for over 7 years then. Your stories during his illness drew me to your authentic heart. I think of him (as if I knew him?) and envision the sort of messy, cluttered, full-of-life-and-family barn or shed or whatever it was where the motorcycles were. You paint good pictures.
