Brocante Bits and Beauty

Polka Dotted Sugarbowl

Work I must. Collecting bits of brocante beauty is the best part about my job. Exploring French towns to seek and find old things, to learn about their history, to feast my senses on everything around. What is there not to like? Well after the seeking, finding, collecting, feasting then comes the bigger part of my job selling.

Okay back to work.

Thank you for understanding my need to just post photos for awhile. In the meantime I am still working, and planning the next French Muse Experience, and managing our apartment. I know you too are active, full of doing what you love and what you need to do. It is what we do isn't it: Love, give, receive, work, play, eat, drink and be merry.

I appreciate your support.

  1. Such a lovely collection of treasures!
Love the intricately caned over bottle, surely made by a master. Do you know anything about its provenance? The pattern reminds me of Paglia Viennese (Viennese caning).

  2. Dearest, of course we understand. Just as you surely understand that we, the readers, cannot always comment 🙂 Your photos however we can view when and as often as we wish and I’m doing that, I’m also often nodding my head in tune to your words and very occasionally I shake it – also in tune! 🙂

    1. I would fill that bottle with flowers! maybe with wildflowers that I picked on the picnic (after emptying it of something stronger).
    2. French WWII maps: what makes them so? Are there indicators of the war on them?
    3. The hand-painted pot (and the little covered pot in first photo) are wonderful. Thanks for all the detail shots of the painted one.
    4. You lucky thing you.

Are the perfume bottle & compact sold?

  5. The measuring tape may have a stanhope – peek through the little hole at the top (looks sort of like a little periscope). If it’s still intact, you should see a tiny scene or prayer. I’m not sure if it works from both sides, so you may have to flip it. I hope it is!!!
