Brocante Man aka French Husband

He never liked the brocante,

though he tolerated it because of me.

Love does crazy things to us.

Then little by little, cause there are a million stories to say, but I will cut to the chase and say little by little he started getting into it.

Eventually, 27 years later he is starting to spot things I miss.

Nearly a yard long.

Framed in a gilded ruin decay, which says "MUST HAVE"

to me.

1800s classic engraving.

Reminds French Husband and I of our first trip together to

Angel's camp.

But that is another story.

We plan on taking it to Paris for the bathroom.

The best part Brocante Husband found it for

10 Euros or $12.

    It’s beautiful.

  3. It’s very nice, but won’t the steam in a bathroom hurt the old wood, the gesso and the guilding? Just a thought.

What a find and at 10 euros! My gosh, you should clone French Husband.

  12. He’s a treasure. And so is your gorgeous bath-scene!
Reminds me of the time I bought a HUGE angel-little boy in the bath painting on an English fleamarket. Had to be brought to me it was so huge and heavy. I had it hung above the bath where it threatened to fall down when we were having a soak but it didn’t loose it’s ‘hold’, interestingly. I couldn’t possibly take it off when we sold the house as it was so much part of the Victorian pile, so I left it (quite heartbroken at the time)…. The people who bought the house are – listen to this – a very creative couple, he’s a painter (in winter he often used to travel to the South of France for delicate and beautiful dune & sea scenes) and she’s doing all sorts of artistic handycraft – they LOVE the picture and treasure it!!!! It was an investment well worth the troube as this ‘old stuff’ became a much loved and treasured part of the house’s history and continues to give joy to those who view it.
I hate to tell you this but my picture was much more expensive, the frame was cracked and damaged too but hey, as my niece said: This is not a ‘buy’ but an investment…. 🙂

  13. Ooh, it’s beautiful. I believe you married the best man EVER.
