My maternal grandmother in NorCal had lots of those enamel pans — white with a skinny stripe around the rim in red, blue, green or black — as well as gray speckled kettles. She used them for so many years that they would have been too worn out to salvage (chipped paint, where the metal then rusted), so my parents would’ve thrown them out after my grandmother’s death. Farmboy Husband says some of his relatives in the Midwest had them, too.
