How to Roll Silverware in a Paper Napkin

Put the napkin as a diamond shape on the table, with the silverware in the middle with the tips towards the folded corner, and as close together as two peas in a pod.

Then roll the napkin around the silverware in one motion.

Finally dab your finger in a glass of water moisting one corner then sticking it to the rolled part. This will keep the napkin from unrolling. Stack the rolled napkins in a basket or container.

Thank you Alice for teaching this old dog a new trick.

  1. I will give this a try! Thank you.
So simple, yet I had never thought of it.
Will think of you when I do it, probably for the rest of my life.
Just as I’m sure a woman I met 20 years ago still remembers me when she measures butter or margarine by dividing up a one-pound brick with a knife, rather than pressing it into a measuring cup. I remember showing her that a lb. was two cups and thus how simple it is to slice off the amount a recipe calls for, and how surprised and delighted she was.
Sometimes we’re unaware of the simplest things! And now, though I haven’t seen her for at least 15 years, quite often when I sliced a hunk of butter from a lb brick of it, I think of her.

  2. This is a useful trick. Thanks for the heads up!

  3. Thanks Alice and Corey! My Aunt Leila taught Mom and I that if you put a dab of butter under the spout of a china pitcher or gravy boat, it prevents drips from going down the side of the vessel when you pour.

  4. Awesome and thanks. Great idea and something new. Every day we learn.
