The First Day of the Second French Muse Experience

The French Muse Experience, corey amaro photography, provence,

The antique dealers know each other, each has their own style and a few of them have their own shop. "Whew," I said when I heard that, it will make it easier when we go somewhere, at least there won't be hard feelings if someone finds something before the other one

"Lavender is said to have a calming effect…" I told them each to take a handful and breath it in deeply if they ever needed to…

"Because one thing I know for sure after doing this antiquing thing for the last twenty years, when someone finds something you love, it might make you see green for two seconds or more. And since Ruth and I won't be buying but helping you, we will probably have to EAT the lavender."

We added blue to the rooms this year.

Since the group wants to learn Indigo dying.

A touch of blue here and there to set the mood.

Ruth, the textile Queen has a room full of textiles… we used her collection mostly. I teased, "You might want to buy the linens as such that Ruth added to your beds…" They instantly got that look that revealed, "Now that is a happy thought."

Ruth interjected that linens, especially blankets are heavy. I thought to myself, "I guess she never heard of Maria from the Sound of Music, making those curtains into clothes."

I didn't offer a sewing machine.

First course.

Yum.

From a recipe I had the other day.

If ever you come and you aren't a vegetarian, don't worry I won't serve you tofu.

Ruth's pots filled with thyme are fitting to the blue theme.

I love setting up.

Ruth put these along the terrace at the country house that we stay at.

I just thought I would add this blue stamp since that is about the extent of my blue collection.

I have a blue armoire but that is harder to pack.

What is your favorite color?

A must is to dip in the Mediterranean.

Tomorrow we will be as blue as that!

  1. Before I expire, I hope to see those blue-blue waters of Cassis!

  2. Enjoy! BLUE is my favorite! I hope one day to see blue with you!
    Have fun!

  3. Blue is my favorite color, specifically Aqua but I love all the shades..periwinkle, royal, midnight, teal..and of course, French blue. I want to float in that Mediterranean, oh yeah!

Me too. Corey, maybe you and Ruth could add a Dips in the Blue/Green Mediterranean trip to the French Muse Experience (for those of us who love to swim more than shop)!

  5. What is that first course, Corey? It looks fabulous! You really are satisfying all of the senses –

    Corey,
It looks amazing; I so wish I were there! And my favorite color is blue!
    Maybe next year. Lisa Sweeney

  7. I love indigo. As a weaver, I’ve dyed yarn and then woven with it. Also have dyed fabric in the shibori method. It is amazing to see the color develop.

I was just looking at photos from a trip to France, years ago when we went to Cassis, and remembering it with my husband. You keep raving about Cassis and I couldn’t figure out why we weren’t particularly taken with it when we were there.
Aha — the photos show that it was a dark day with heavy grey clouds overhead, so there were no gorgeous blue skies to reflect in the water nor sun to make it sparkle. I took a number of photos of the boats on the waterfront but without the perfect lighting, oh well.
Plus we had just driven through the very center of Marseilles using only a tiny map the size of 1/6 of a page of a guidebook. I felt victorious at managing to navigate us with that, but David felt exhausted and wrung out (especially after I had him cross a busy lane of traffic to take a crucial right turn so we wouldn’t wander yet again in one-way-road hell. What a driver: he managed it.)
We didn’t know where to eat particularly, and there’s some vague memory about annoying American tourists making us crazy and then our trying to avoid them.
Well, next time we come I’ll have you be my tour guide and order up a glorious day like the several you have pictured above, please.
    Enjoy the Muse!
