The French Muse Touring a Chateau of my Dreams

Friends of mine have cared for a chateau that has been left to decay in graceful surrender. A tragedy beyond belief.
Today the French Muse went inside, as my friends are retiring and selling their collected cherished pieces. The chateau is a movie set, I kept pinching myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming. Incredible!
Many more photos to come….

Oh to be handed the keys to such a place as this chateau. I can only imagine how wonderful it was to enter and view its many treasures collected over the years by your friends. How wonderful for your guests to have such an opportunity. The place is enticing on so many levels and easily imagined are rooms filled with those from another era. It seems a shame that it should be “left to decay in graceful surrender.” Your beautiful words evoke sadness while at the same time allowing dignity to be maintained. The French Muse seems truly an amazing experience because of this and other things always described in words that feel like velvet. Both you and Ruth have created something magical which I so appreciate being able to follow.

  3. Corey, have you read the book, “Almost French” ?? A friend loaned me the paperback. Interesting reading. It is fiction, of course, but a woman was divorced from her attorney husband. She decided she wanted to “Own a chateau in France” and she did find one! Needed a lot of work, but apparently money was not an object. Then starts the story line: Francois enters and they fall madly in love. But I won’t say more if you haven’t read it. I can take it to your mother in Willows on Oct. 17 if you are interested. Otherwise, I’ll just recycle it at the local Friend of the Woodland Library bookstore.
