Dancing in Provence

brocante band music

On the way to Ville Neuve les Avignon our friends (blog readers) Sheree ad Elliot mentioned that they wanted to dance on the Pont d'Avignon.

"Sure after the brocante anything is possible." I teased, but was also kind of speaking the truth. Sheree who takes ballroom dancing with Elliot waltzed right up to her true partner… brocanting.

At the brocante there was a man selling off the city's old marching band music cards. Over half of them are hand written.

Striking up the imaginary band (I bought all the cards) we headed towards the pont – bridge.

The bridge extends from the walled city of Avignon jetting out half way across the Rhone.

One of my favorite views coming home from Paris on the TGV is crossing the Rhone with the two castles, one on each side: Ville Neuve and Avignon.

Elliot started singing, "Sur la pont…"

After the brocante (which is every Saturday morning in Ville Neuve 7 to 2pm) We went dancing…

Sheree and Elliot literally waltzed across.

Zooming in as much a possible I saw them beaming.

Strictly ballroom on an incredible dance floor, where the song sur la pont echoed, with a stunning blue backdrop they danced with everyone daring to do the same.

Elliot did not stop, around and around they went.

Tomorrow is Sheree's birthday and rain is promised, the brocante might not happen, but I think these two will dance anywhere anytime happily.
