Sacha came home for a few days before heading back to school this evening. Before he left he showed me some of his photos he had taken on a walk he went on earlier.

Autumn color.

Looking through his photos he said, "Oh this is a you shot."

We laughed.

Maybe he thought it was a shot I would take, but the sun peeking through the trees I would not have caught so well.

This one made me gasp. The golden hues the first chill of fall.

Luckily Sacha told me I could put his photos on my blog.

Anyone who knows Sacha knows that this is 100 percent Sacha style.

Add to that this, "…after I took the photo I put the escargot back in the field, back on green."

Oh yeah that is Sacha.

  1. There is a local t.v.gardening personality whose favorite phrase is “ooh la la” that seems the perfect phrase to use when looking at Sacha’s photos . I especially liked the one of Chelsea and Sacha with red, white and blue Franco/American stripes. Those kids!

  2. He definitely caught the light of Provence so beautifully. I would follow him if I only had Instagram.

  3. I have to admit I clicked on the link to his account before finishing the post- looked at every picture ….came back to look at the ones posted on the blog and am rendered speechless-your boy has an eye-and as an aside– I love when you respond to the comments I know it is a one off but love it-I didn’t make a comment yesterday because honestly I misplace something everyday as I said when I am overwhelmed it happens as a matter of course-yesterday it was the cat’s medicine that had just been filled- thank goodness it showed up in the kitchen on the radio-I am glad you are more yourself -feeling better

  4. You have every right to be proud of Sacha. Certainly the eye of a filmmaker.
I can just sense what Autumn is like in your part of the world. Thank you for sharing!

    Makes me miss home 🙂

The kid’s got an eye–no big surprise! Gotta live a guy who relocates snails . . .

  7. Sacha’s photos make me homesick for far Northern California.
I remember when I was little our family passing through wine country en route to/from my maternal grandparents’ ranch for one last visit of the year with them every Hallowe’en weekend — before the rains soon came that would make their dirt-turned-to-mud access single lane road from the highway often impassable (if not wash it out in places, and/or wash out their little private bridge) for weeks at a time — yes, back when it poured and flooded in NorCal each winter!

That is one talented photog! Like mother, like son.

    Spectacular! Gasp worthy.

  10. Must be in his DNA ~ great photos!

Wow. Such beauty captured, not just the pictures, but the beauty of love……….

  12. Such lovely light! tonight as I was driving to an appt the sun was coming through the trees it was so golden and sadly I was late and didn’t have my camera. Boo! Captured in my memory though!

  13. Fall is my favorite time & it was also my Dad’s favorite time of the year. He left this world at age 97 in April…..the photos Sacha captured are so lovely, evocative of the very many lwonderful places in this world to love so much. Dad was a WW II vet & spent time in France during the war. He brought back some old wine bottles from a barn he “stayed in”… he also sent my mom lots of great French perfume. I treasure those bottles, big & small. Thanks, Sacha & Corey, for this lovely reminder of my Dad & Mom!

This young man has learned more at his mother’s knee than eating, drinking, speaking, reading and using the toilet. You gave this man his mother’s eye, and he expanded on it! His photos are simply lovely.

  15. Snail and red leaves: perfect. And so kind to put the model back in her natural habitat. That makes the picture even more moving.

  16. Jennifer Phillipps

    Gorgeous photos – gorgeous photographer…..a winning combination….

  17. Beautiful. Thank you, Sacha. Thank you, Corey.❤️

  18. Yeah they are keepers!

  19. Thanks G I am feeling much better. Forgetting something everyday means you are busy. You have not only your life to manage… taking care of your dad takes energy too. Hope you found your cat’s medicine made him dance!

  20. Hi Star
Around us in the foothills the colors are not as evident, mostly green with pines. But near the villages and vineyards that is very different colors are vibrant, the vineyards are lovely this time of year.

  21. Which makes me miss you xoxo

  22. Hi Renee, Sacha has a sensitive spirit. Saving snails is his thing, when he was little I use to find them in his diaper! So gross. He would save them!
    Thankfully he never ate them.

  23. oh that reminds me our road would flood too! It hasn’t in years….

  24. Some of my most beautiful memories do not have photos. I imagine that is true for most of us.

  25. I am sorry to hear about your father. 97! Where was he in France?

  26. Beautiful. Is he studying photogrPhy in school, or just film?

  27. These are incredible! They capture French joie de vivre et l’automne avec un œil délicat. Très bon reportage !

  28. What a talented photographer! I see a very bright future for your son! Thank you for sharing –

  29. Amazing photos! What a wonderful eye he has for capturing the moment.

  30. Some place within the genes. Stunningly beautiful

  31. Breathtaking! He should put them up for sale…? Does Sacha have a special camera he uses to get such spectacular results (in addition to his Mother’s eye, of course)? Thanks for sharing–another highlight of the day:=)

  32. mundenliana@hotmail.com

    Beautiful and Inspiring!

  33. Brenda Locklear

WOW! He definitely has your EYE for colors! Very Nice!
I’d say he might have a career in photography!
    Thanks Sasha

I just looked through a bunch of his Instagram photos too. Really enjoyed them. Hard to add superlatives after all the ones already here. I got as far as an interesting photo of an AirFrance plane where #AirFrance actually commented that they liked the shot!
The light. The late afternoon fall light. Nothing like it. The one you said made you gasp took my breath away too. The low sun turning the grasses to flame and making pools of shadows under the small trees.
(and, you got a day off, aside from setting this whole post up. AND you got to show off your son!)

  35. I must say… Like Mother like Son. He has your talent for capturing the beauty in a photo. Bravo! Magnificent photos!

  36. Absolutely beautiful! You and Sacha are kindred spirits and a beautiful talented mother/son team!

  37. Hi Gladys,
I actually took these pictures with my Samsung A5… I was just going for a walk and ended up taking pictures but didn’t have my camera.
I am lucky my camera phone can go up to 13M pixels and I used the HDR mode for a few takes. I used Adobe lightroom to bring up the shadows in a few shots or else it was just black.
However, photo 3, my favorite was posted as taken. The colors, light and composition was there I just had to click.

  38. Thank you for all the nice comments. =)
