Stories Collected While Living in France
these are our thoughts exactly. we are daily praying for ALL the abandonned, the helpless, the sick & ill, the deprived, those who have nobody on this earth to love them, the forgotten, for those who ‘only’ want to live somewhere in safety, for the 14yrs old girl who got shot in the head leaving her home back in Africa, for the young mother who had her 6months old baby dying in her womb last week, for those nobody thinks of….
we are also very much afraid that with horrible actions like those in Paris more HATE will grow and quickly. Hate gives birth to hate, love, compassion and understanding, forgiveness also seeds – but in very different way – Please look at my last upload on flickr (link)
PLEASE PUT A CANDLE IN YOUR WINDOW TONIGHT – not only for the victims and families of the Paris attrocities, but for the deprived in every country, for ALL who need a light, a prayer, a special thought.
I got a SMS asking for a ‘chain of solidarity and love’ from everywhere to Paris and beyond and back and to all the world. Let’s show the evil that love and solidarity is much, much stronger than violence.
God bless you and all. I am so glad you too were spared – now the world needs our compassion and actions. Much love, K

In America we were shocked but many of us are not surprised. It was only a matter of time, and the unfortunate reality is that we know there will be more attacks both here and abroad. I’m glad you and your family are safe Corey. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people of France. I pray also for my cousin and his family in Germany, where there is much upheaval from the influx of thousands of refugees. I am sorry to have to say the truth is this mass migration throughout Europe is a Trojan Horse for terrorists. It only takes a few, as the people of France have already seen. It is unsustainable. That is a reality we all must face.
Stay vigilant. Stay safe.
Corey, you are so right. These are scary times we are living in, and we must pray for all of those involved. We must pray also, for our children, and children all over the world. What they are being taught, and how they are being directed.
So many heavy hearts….but we must actively band together.
Thank you for your posts, dear one.
Couldn’t agree more with your words, but prayers seems so useless as well today…
Amen.
Host Michel Martin addressed similar sentiments in her commentary on yesterday afternoon’s “All Things Considered” newscast on National Public Radio:
www.npr.org/2015/11/15/456121870/grief-knows-no-native-tongue-but-we-must-listen-wherever-it-speaks
Ms. Martin observed in part:
“Paris calls out to us because many of us have been there or wish to go. For many of us, it is the city of our dreams. But there is terrible violence being perpetrated all over the world, in places many of us will never visit, by some of the same people and the same ideology that led to the massacres in Paris.
“But their lives matter. They matter because when we draw the line between those near and far, and those who look like us and those who don’t, those whose names we can easily pronounce and those which we cannot, we participate in the same kind of dehumanizing that allows people to do such awful things to each other in the first place…
“I will try to remember […] the name of the man who is credited with saving unknown numbers of lives in Beirut last week by tackling a suicide bomber. His is Adel Termos. I will try to remember it.”
I wish you could have seen the ABC news this morning. It was very interesting telling the the bad things that had happened, but it also told of the good. A man came out of his apt. close to the restaurant and stayed with the wounded/dying. He said that no one needed to be alone as they were dying. He couldn’t do anything except stay by their sides. Medics were there and were trying to triage the area. These were the ones they couldn’t get to. He felt this was his responsibility. Onward, France, and Bravo.
Sometimes, through a single person’s journey we can get an understanding of why such things are happening in our world. If you have not read it, may I suugest the book “Infidel,” by Ayan Hirsi Ali.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/81227.Infidel
An astonishing life story, “from her nomadic Muslim childhood in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya, to her intellectual awakening and activism in the Netherlands (she was elected to the Dutch parliament) and her current life under armed guard in the West. One of today’s most admired and controversial political figures, Ayaan Hirsi Ali burst into international headlines following an Islamist’s murder of her colleague, Theo van Gogh, with whom she made the movie ‘Submission.’”
Yes, I am praying for everyone, but I must say, the US sure took the lid off the whole thing by meddling in Iraq, enabling the current situation to evolve.
On top of it all there is the destruction of world heritage sites: Nimrud, Khorsabad, Mosul Museum, Palmyra…
Pray, Pray for the people all over this world … of whom so many have forgotten Christ and His Love.
Thank you for this post, Corey. I could not agree more.
I have to admit, you are the first person I thought of when I heard about these attacks. Then when I read the cartoon by Joann Sfar, I thought of you…and your ability to weave faith and prayer, and love of life and humanity together on your blog…seamlessly. So while, I’ve never meet you, you are in my thoughts and yes, my prayers. I’m not sure what kind of world we are living in, but I know this…there’s still good in this world, there’s still beauty in this world…and yes, there’s still hope.
I pray for Paris. I pray for Beirut. I pray for Baghdad. And I pray for the world. I don’t, however, stop before I pray to determine whether the skin color of the dead is white or brown or olive or… That is the only line from this quote I take issue with. The rest is beauty.
And I pray for you, Corey, and your family.
I’m feeling lately, that God is fed up
and has “left the building”.
ps..A poster of John Lennon with the
words to “Imagine” hangs on the wall
in my craft room. I read it everyday.
I’m still trying to imagine it.
Thank you for the suggestion–I will certainly read “Infidel.” Would love to post a comment for Corey but when I tried there was no “post” button so that I could submit. However, I can submit a reply to your comment. Iowa Julie
Hi Corey,
I have seen this text on other blogs too. Where does it come from?
The poem is attributed to a blogger from India named Karuna Ezara Parikh.
http://www.techinsider.io/poem-says-it-is-not-paris-we-should-pray-for-it-is-the-world-2015-11
Amen.
Amen.
Thank you, Jan, I agree wholeheartedly. I pray for us all and for our children that they may live in a world filled with peace and love.
Amen.
I add another Amen! So true, we must pray for all that have been hurt and families that suffer from treachery and anger.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
AMEN
Peace and joy on earth….
thank you for the wisdom you espoused today.. i wish this were published everywhere. you have such an understanding of how the world i wish to live in is..

This poem is not by Corey; a young woman named Karuna Ezara Parikh wrote it and this heart-felt text with a lot of authenticy in it went viral 3 days ago – please bear that in mind.

If you are attributing ‘praise’ to the creator of this poem, do it to the right person.
This is not against you Corey. I know that many of your readers would not have known about it if it weren’t for you to have posted it. But you do claim ownership wrongly. Maybe you want to add a link to Karuna to put this right. Merci.
Pray that we; who are still full of hope and love for our fellow human beings, never lose sight of what God wants of us. We need to continue his mission, giving of ourselves when and where we can. Be thankful for all of the goodness that continues to exist amongst the ugliness and hatred.
THAT was EXCELLENT!
Thank you : )
Thank you Kiki, when I added it I thought the link would attach at the bottom, like it did on FB.
