Golden serenity,
a leaf’s graceful tumble,
one after another,
a blanket covers the ground.
Stories Collected While Living in France
Thinking of the hit song from my childhood, “Autumn Leaves” — and the French original “Les feuilles mortes.”
I would like to eb walking through that beautiful alley of trees right now. in cool tem peratures.
That is a wonderful song…so many have covered it from Grace Jones to Nat King Cole. I think my favorite is by Juliette Greco.
While I love the leaves (we have a gorgeous maple which turns magnificent colors of orange and red), I do not, do not enjoy raking them.
Farmboy Husband deals with leaves on the lawn by waiting until they’ve all fallen, then mowing one last time before winter with our bagging mower. Each bagful of the chopped leaf/grass clipping mixture goes on the compost pile (or can be spread as mulch). Two birds / one stone 🙂
Love the thought of a golden blanket. As I look out my window that is indeed what I see.
I am with you on that!
Believe you me, I would do the same however we have neighbors who get all huffy when the fallen leaves go over in to their yards. It’s o.k. It’s just more ways to exercise.
The serenity of these photos is welcome. After a big wind this week, all the gold and red leaves are off our trees and also carpeting the ground.
