This is my youngest nephew Warren on his baptism day nine years ago, funny how it feels like yesterday. Chelsea, Sacha and I were fortunate to be home for his baptism. I love the photo were my mom is holding Warren, her last grandchild, and her grandchildren are gathered round loving their newest cousin.

Maci, Molly (my nieces) and Sacha are the three children you see lovingly looking at Warren.

First communion

Today Warren made his first communion. His sister Molly snapped me this photo as he walked up with my brother's Mat and Mark.

Ah I wish I was there…

My Dad's eight anniversary was yesterday,

Soon my nieces will attend the prom,

My Godchild George and Molly will make their confirmation,

My nephew Joe will turn 21…

Everyday something is happening back home that makes me want to catch the next flight and be there.

Life continues and today I feel faraway, bittersweet xxx

Thank goodness for the technology of today! You may be far away but you can be with your Californian family at any moment. Years ago it would have been periodic letters and a few photos. We’re so lucky to be able to connect with each other instantly. I know it’s not quite the same as being there but it’s not bad! X.

  2. They probably miss you just as much. I remember a photo of toddler George sitting on a stool with an apron wrapped around him like a seat belt.

  3. Oh and today five neighbor kids came over and I put out a big urn of iced tea and mason jars. Copying what your mother does for her grandchildren. They loved it!

Yes, I can only imagine. I was reminded this afternoon when I took my grandson to a birthday party and several mom’s said how lucky he was to have grandparents nearby. One of them had her parents in Australia. I do feel like the lucky one, as I was reminded that my children grew up far from family too. It is not easy, but we do the best we can. With the internet it makes it so much better. Glad your niece snapped that picture for you.

  5. Love the beautiful photos. (((Corey)))

  6. Hugs to you, Corey

Life is filled with so many bittersweet memories, just as there are the ones of joy and gratitude. And that is part of life. Hugs to you, take a huge glup and be thankful, knowing you were missed.

My first grandchild Nicholas will make his First Holy Communion on Saturday. Big event in this family, big celebration at our house afterwards. Grandma still has the biggest house for entertaining!

  12. Time flies, doesn’t it. Enjoy your family!
