Brocante Muse

The brocante is all about what you find beautiful.

Practical or not isn't the question.

French-brocante

The photo of the French brocante does not do it justice. I mean look at the photo above: A heap of this, that, and the other, it doesn't capture the intensity of the sweet little things in the box, nor the details stitches of the Aubusson, or the brush strokes of the painting, or the stories being told of the objects, or the history of everyday life seen in the old things misplaced on the ground. But the soulful history is there under the heap of misplaced things, beneath the table, tucked between the pages of a book, tucked inside a trunk, and often in the hands of a lucky buyer.

Old-watering-can

A worn true watering can. One would think it was used to nurture a garden, but actually,  it was a toilet chamber watering can.

Of course I had to enlarge the photos to check out all the goodies. 😉 Lots of dishes and glassware…I guess if you ever broke part of your set, you would run into a replacement at the brocante sooner rather than later.

  2. So so true. whenever I take photos at the Brocantes we visit they nearly always just show a pile of junk with some modern plastic thrown in on the side. One really has to be there, as you say, to see the hidden treasures.

  3. The whole fun of the brocante is finding the diamond among the pebbles. And pebbles there are plenty of. But that’s OK.

  4. Beautiful. I love how every piece tells a story.
