…And Then There Was a Sink

Sink

Thinking to use this as a kitchen sink…

Because after buying the tub why not really make a splash.

Yann what do you think? Just say, "Yes, wow, great!" And not, "We have a kitchen sink," or worse, "but Corey that is a bathroom sink."

Yes it is a bathroom sink, shallow, not practical and utterly cool.

Do you go more with your heart or your mind?

Practical or Pretty?

Ding or Dong?

  1. How about BOTH/AND? Can you put this one in the kitchen for people to wash their hands, then have a nice big double sink as well for kitchen clean-up?

Ok so first I have to say I’m disappointed Yann did not answer yesterday’s post on your blog today. I was really looking for Yann to get “all French in your face” and speak some Fringlish. As to me, pretty or practical? Ding or dong? I try to combine pretty and practical. When I can’t, when I must choose, it depends on the situation. How impractical would the pretty item be? If I looked at that sink 10 years ago when I had 4 kids and 3 elderly people living at home it would have been a no-go. Later in life, kids gone, elderly no longer here…I’d totally go for the pretty over the practical. As for ding or dong, I’m so both. A true ding-dong in every situation.

  3. I go heart over head…always have -pretty over practical…..not always but mostly and dong not ding for sure……

In the case of a kitchen sink which once installed would be a pain to change, I would definitely go for practical over pretty. I would look for practical and pretty. I love the copper tub though.

  5. I think it makes a great bathroom sink… to go with the bathtub!

  6. I’ll be on the edge of my chair waiting to see what Yann says…hee-hee.
I used to go crazy decorating the minute my husband left on a business trip:) My kids tell how he wasn’t out of the driveway when I ordered them to bring in the new wallpaper rolls and a ladder, etc.
We’re cut from the same cloth.

    Me? Ding-a-ling.

  8. I have two sinks like that….outdoors. They are impossible to clean, because of all the bumps and nicks and ridges that came from use over time. If this one is no longer smooth, then I’d find a place in the garden. I try to rein in my impracticality when I can see I would be cursing daily because of it.

  9. Gorgeous stone sink, but I too would find it impossible to clean and keep hygienic, that would be my biggest concern. But like you I would want to use it! I wonder if there is some sort of finish that a professional can apply over the stone that is clear?

I would definitely go for practical over pretty. I understand it is really really cute, but sometimes brain must overrule heart. Can you honestly see someone washing pots and pans on that sink?

  11. I love Kathie’s idea, using this one as a hand washing sink. Perfect.
Wonder why all kitchens don’t have a hand washing sink, it makes so much sense.

You could use that stone bowl I spy in the upper right hand corner as as insert to provide depth.

Kitchen sinks? Definitely practical. Would go with a nice deep, modern, easy to clean sink and splurge on a beautiful faucet instead.
I find that if every single piece in a room is of one time period then none stand out or compliment each other.

    I say…heart….pretty…..gut…and ding dong!

  15. Bonnie Schulte

I would go with my heart. Just because it makes me happy, and doing dishes fun…ding-aling..happy..happy..happy

  16. Oh my what a beautiful sink
But to be honest, if I were to vacation somewhere with a kitchen sink such as this, it would not be a relaxing vacation at all. All the worrying about the splashing water and the damage it could cause to the surrounding area and floors. Wiping up water constantly. The fear of doing damage and potentially being charged for such damage would cloud any joy I had.
Think about your guests and go practical in this area.

  17. If you have the space and money for extra plumbing, you might consider using it as a wet bar sink. I can picture it filled with ice and bottles of liquid ambrosia. It is a beautiful sink.

Jacklynn, love your hope/wish that Yann would post some Fringlish.
And you appear to totally get Corey’s Dingness and Dongness!

  19. fabulous sink! wherever it ends up being “used”, it’ll be wonderful!
