Saturday Sweet

Saturday at the brocante I spied this darling handmade cup.

I didn't buy it, and that is okay.

Thank you for all the advice, thoughts and ideas about the sink.

It is too big for the bathroom, and regarding the surface it might be too hard to

keep clean. I will have to think about it, and maybe let it go.

    Love the mug,
Re the sink “sometimes not getting what you want is a blessing…”

  4. I would have bought that sink in a second……and not put it in the kitchen. Buy what grabs your heart….
I also loved the pitcher. Listen to your heart!
It has always served me well…….

  5. PS When we built our house 20 years ago; I was told “eek! limestone counters in the kitchen? They will stain”!! EEk, limestone counters in the bathroom?? NO NO NO!! They will stain!” “fill them and seal them”! NO NO NO! NO FILL!!! (I like the holes) NO NO NO!! No seal!! NO !!!!
Guess what? I WANTED THEM TO STAIN!! I had my friend come up here and teach cooking and pour red wine all over these counters….unfilled…unsealed…..limestone….did they stain?
NO!!! I wanted patina…..I wanted red wine stains…..no no no. It is a myth! I love Patina….I wanted rings……I wanted flaws…..stains…..all of those things…these counters look lovely….and old….but there is not one goddamm stain! So learn!

  6. sorry. another. That mug spoke to you. I would have bought that in one second. Can you go back and get it? Buy what speaks to you. Asking others will never work.
I hope you can get that mug. Its face was familiar to you. I would stop asking others if I were you! Just my opinion! I have bought things that speak to me….and I have been criticized often….and I was right…..always…. for us.
Good luck! You have a great eye!!!
ps take a peek at my website if you have a second! you will see what I mean!

  7. I can only imagine the person who made that cup had a specific sweet baby in mind. For a daily reminder of that face through the years?
You’ll find another sink, I bet. I’ve seen some pretty gorgeous ones of marble, nice and old. The problem with a rough surface in the kitchen is damp+ food bits = germs and odors.

I’m thinking you could still use that sink in your garden. Plug the hole, fill with water and let the birds enjoy it. Or even let it be a waterfall in to the fish pool.
