The photo was taken in Nice on the Promenade des Anglais.

Also, today my friend's daughter, Natacha you may remember her when she came to visit in 2011, wrote this on her Facebook.

Natacha is French/American and now lives in the States:

"I'm overwhelmed with grief. A City right next to the one where I spent every summer of my childhood with my grandparents. My grief is made worse by the apprehension that I feel to know that racism and islamophobia will increase with these latest attacks. That ISIS is going to continue to take advantage of these roma, that the French Muslim and Arab origin will be the next victims in French society and with the state of emergency extended as daesh has wanted. All this while hundreds of innocent people died in recent weeks in identical attacks in Baghdad, Dhaka and Istanbul just before the celebrations of the eid which reflected the same universal values that we commérait today. We are united and identical in our grief and our initial reactions in us make sure that those that we love are safe. Let's not let ISIS continue to take advantage of these attacks in dividing us. Freedom, equality, fraternity for all. Let's not forget these dear values the following months."

Thank you for outpouring of love and friendship poured towards my family because we live in France. Every prayer, thought, email, message, text, phone call… that you sent I imaged it going forth to those who need it, those who were in Nice yesterday.

Corey, You are right in extending all of the prayers, thoughts and sympathies you and your family have received out to those in all of France especially those who have directly suffered. We grieve with all of you. I believe the whole world does. We are all one.

  2. While driving to work, I listen to Satellite radio specifically the morning mass from St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NY. The priest asked that we pray for France. Many prayers going to France. Take care.

How can we find the words of comfort when devils make war on children? My heart is sick.

  4. Natacha said it well.

  5. Such sadness
We were in Paris a week ago, it was crowded with so many tourists enjoying the beauty, so happy.
    Prayers to all.

  6. So very sad. Glad your family is safe. Praying for Nice.

Thank you for posting Natasha’s beautifully written thoughts. I am filled with such deep sadness as I feel overwhelmed by the hat-filled energies pushing through the world populations. Prayers and solitude as I work in the gardens…or my studio these days. May there be power from the words of peace and love we share…..and change.

  8. My son Andy and daughter-in-law Ronna took a wonderful, life-affirming trip to Nice just last month. It was the first adult only vacation they had had since their twins were born 6 years ago. Ronna had to be there for a conference and I encouraged my son to go with her. My husband and I watched their kids for a week so that they could stroll the Promenade des Anglais every night. Who would pass up a chance to be on the Côte d’Azur in June? Now they are mourning along with everyone one of us who feel life is a gift. What strange people these zealots are. They choose to strike when we are joyful, happy and celebrating our freedom. Bizarre. I, too, pray that their actions don’t set off a chain reaction of hate.

  9. Sending you a heartfelt hug to you and your family in solidarity and love

So sad for what has happened!! It’s just awful and tragic!! But so glad you and family are safe. I pray the tragic events never come to your door…or elsewhere.. These zealots are terrible! Millions of Muslims condemn what they are doing.Your friend said it all…

  11. So many stories from people who love France, Nice, Provence; shocked by the senselessness of this attack. Reaching out to you all and my family in Carpentras.
