I Will Drink to That….

Wondering what to drink on these long, luscious summer days?

Here is a list of the newest summer drinks. Ice cold, served on the Mediterranean:

Umbrella-by-the-rocks

Umbrella by the Rocks:

Sparkling Asti Spumante with a splash of violet over crushed ice.

Sunbathing-on-the-rocks

Sunbathing on the Rocks:

White wine and Perrier, poured over chunks of lemon, orange, and pineapple, served with a drop of mint syrup.

Frozen coconut yogurt milkshake with blueberries and blackberries.

Pretty-in-pink

Pretty in Pink:

A ice cold glass of beer with lemonade, served on a checked tablecloth.

Brown-with-blue

Brown Bodies with a Splash of Blue:

Hug a friend, then hug another friend, then hug your neighbor, kiss the dog, wave to the lady across the street and then jump into the pool.

Topless

Topless:

With a string,

and long blond hair.

Geez.

I imagine how sunburned I would be, and how scary I would look.

A drink I'd rather forgo for your sake.

Moi-et-toi

Moi et Toi:

"Do we drink cocktails?" I asked him.

"Do I want a cocktail?" He responded.

"No, do we drink cocktails?" I repeated.

"Why do you ask? I do not understand." He questioned.

"Yann, it is just a question. A simple question. No reason, just because. Do we drink cocktails?" I asked, with a splash of exasperation.

"We drink red wine." He said giving me a puzzled look.

With a loud groan I begged "Give me a glass!"

Giving me a glass he said, "Do you want to make a cocktail?"

Mile-high

Mile High:

"What would that taste like?" I dared to ask.

He shook his head, "Enough."

Black-beauty

Black Beauty:

Ice cold coffee, vodka, thick cream, blended with Kahlua and chocolate syrup, times three.

Toothpick-without-an-olive

Served on hot rocks, under a pink towel and coconut oil on top.

FISHNET

Fish Net:

Kool aid, the sweetest kind.

What is your preferred drink? Honestly, mine is tap water without ice, and red wine with dinner.

  1. me too on the water-but I do prefer Perrier or seltzer with lemon or orange no ice -sensitive teeth too-coffee strong dark roasts with milk whole milk – wine sometimes white pinot or the rose that is it -but water mostly!!

  2. I can drink to that all night by Jerrod Niemann – look up the video…xo love the images and thoughts. In the summer, I like lemonade, any kind.

  3. The way you combined the photos with drink names is hysterical! Pinot Grigio or Stella Artois in spring or summer. Cabernet Sauvignon or white wine in fall and winter. I like iced tea with lots of lemon or a flavored sparkling water during the day.

I would love to try all of your naughty cocktails especially the “Black Beauty”. I drink loads of water, like a good flat white (coffee with full milk), lemon and ginger tea, lemon, lime and bitters to refresh, a shandy (beer and lemonade) on a scorching day to quench the thirst and the rest of the time Champagne by the bucket full lol.

  5. Paulita

I love your imaginary cocktails, and I enjoy hearing about your conversations with French husband. My husband and I have similar misunderstandings even though we speak the same language.

  6. an absolutely adorable answer-

  7. Carol L

I’ll drink anything the guys in the speedos haven’t been near or touched, with a dash of blindfold. Honestly they gross me out !

  8. Diogenes

My favorite summer drunk is Campari and soda. 😉

  9. Diogenes

Goodness, i meant “drink” – really.

  10. Ha! This made me laugh!

  11. This too!😀

  12. Jacklynn Lantry

I like an Arnold Palmer, equal parts iced tea and lemonade.

  13. Leigh NZ

    ; ))

  14. Taste of France

I thought beer with lemonade was a panaché.
Anybody around here would look askance at anything but wine, with the exception of pastis–un jaune.

  15. Our French Oasis

This made me laugh, love your captions. Sparkling water for me, again without ice, or still, but no ice, room temperature is so much nicer! Red wine in the evening also, seems like we have much in common. However I do love a glass of champagne and as the French just love it too then I am more than happy to participate!!!

The drink of the summer here in the Netherlands is the Hugo – prosecco, a splash of elderflower syrup, and fresh mint –

  17. Charland

What a fun blog. Many smiles as the photos were perfect!

  18. Kathleen

    Water, no ice.
Shouldn’t that be Pretty in Pink with a Slice of Lime?

  19. ChicagoSheila

I will drink anything the guys in the Speedos HAVE been near or touched!!

  20. I do not like the taste of water filtered or otherwise. I will drink lemon water, Pinot Grigio, Corona beer with lime and an occasional frozen Marguerita. I love any kind of fresh fruit Smoothie that may include berries, melons, pineapple, and even a green smoothie with spinach and selected fruits. And of course iced chai tea latte or iced coffee mocha depending on the mood. Cheers!

    ” You’re a braver man than I Gunga Din”
    LOL !

  22. Bombay Sapphire Gin and tonic w lime. And my morning coffee.

  23. Marilyn

Cold water, iced tea, or a Dr. Pepper for me. Fun to see the beach scenes.

  24. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

Well all those creative combinations (drinks you invented based on the photos) cracked me up. I was going to ask about a topless one, but you beat me to it.
Brown Bodies with a Splash of Blue — what a whole lot of people on that beach! and curious/interesting how they sort of loosely line themselves up, parallel to the waters edge. Martha’s Vineyard beach had many more umbrellas, but parking was convenient to the beach and people apparently are pros at schlepping all the comforts they need with them for a day outing.
I’m a big fan of prosecco or bubbly white wines when it gets warm (or homemade ginger kombucha on week nights). We’re talking about pina coladas, but it’s only just now getting hot enough for those rich delicacies.
    Very charming!

  25. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

Whereas I’ll have Carol’s Speedo serving as well as my own. Particularly if delivered by a lean well-tanned waiter.

  26. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

I missed “drunk” first, so thanks to Momof5’s sharper-than-mine eyes.
I used to have Campari and soda in my 20’s — oh did I think I was sophisticated! I should return to that drink again. Especially since the sophisticated Diogenes drinks it!

  27. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

First the gin and tonic whit lime, and THEN your morning coffee next?
I enjoyed reading it that way at least.
