O la Diet

Brocante finds corey amaro

O la… that is my shorten version of: "Oh la la."

Pam (blog reader/friend) and I have been on a diet for the last few months… Pam has lost weight and I have gained weight. O la.

Tonight Chelsea, a friend of hers, Sacha, Celia, Mr. Espresso, my Belle Mere and Yann were here for dinner. I cannot cook meals and be on a diet. In France dining and breathing go hand in hand, and with me hand to mouth is more the case.

O la.

O la.

Tape on mouth might become my new best friend.

  1. Years ago my mother(who has always weighed just slightly more than a gnat) asked a doctor what the best diet is. He said “pushing yourself away from the table”

  2. Yeah well I can eat ten miles away from the table, in an elevator, without a fork, knife or spoon. lol

I have given up judging myself for how I look on the outside. I’m 60, I deserve a little padding! After my mom died, my dad had a girlfriend who was always trying to lose 20 pounds. When she was diagnosed with stomach cancer I’ll never forget what she said…she lay on the couch and looked at me with forlorn eyes and said “I can’t believe I ever worried about losing 20 pounds. What a waste of precious time.”

  4. I gained about 10 pounds in my firefighter class. Still too stressed to think about losing it but I must! Last exam is Thursday!

  5. Corey, I’m struggling to get some weight off. I have a set of antique bird S&P shakers and placed them by my plate to remind me to “eat like a bird”. They are really cute and it is a good reminder for me not to over-eat.

I seem to have been on a diet since my daughter was born 45 yrs ago, but on looking back on photos I would looove to be that weight! Bought skirt & pants yesterday, too small but now I have to lose weight! On holidays in northern Queensland Australia and it is hot, so lots of salads, fish & chicken. Hubby wants me to get a bikini…..what a joke, asked him if he watched me undress lately ha ha. Am 71 so should be happy he thinks I would look OK , BUT NO WAY, what would happen if I met someone I know, Australia is a huge country, but you never know!

  7. I used to always put on weight too whenever I denied myself anything!
The Gym had the same effect!
Eat healthy and be happy I say xx

  8. Kathleen Turner once said women have a choice between their face and their butt as they age. If you gain weight, you don’t get as many wrinkles.
I would like to be thinner. I would like to resemble Robin Wright. But as long as I’m in the “normal” range for my height, I’ll take it. And I suspect I would get wrinkly if I lost weight now.

  9. I have decided that you can eat anything you want but just not much of it.
    That mindset is working here.

Curves are in, Corey! Live, live and enjoy!

  11. We all have a similar dilemma. To eat or not to eat that is not a question but a fact.
When you cook for a family you will eat and only eating at a restaurant all the time will you be able to cut back with all salad and no real food. We all face the same difficulty.
Do we let it become our focus in life or do we take it as it comes. Up a few pounds and down a few. What difference does it make at our age. Some who are by themselves and can make a single meal, a meagre meal will be stick people, but when you cook for others it is difficult to cut back and still have a decent meal.
Enjoy your life and hope it will be happy, That is all you can be concerned with for now. When or if you are the lone spirit of your house, then worry about weight. WE really don’t care, Corey, you are a wonderful soul and we will be at your side no matter what.

  12. Sending best wishes with the tape on mouth, but then there are the nose and eyes which also tempt us.
