What Would You Do?

Paris land

"Land for sale in the heart of Paris, where the Eiffel Tower will be built…"

That was what the article said in the massive 1854 book full of newspaper articles, some of them written by Balzac. French Husband found it on a friend's stand.

Land for sale in the heart of Paris, unheard of now, but back in 1854 you could buy a lot for 19,000 French Francs which today is roughly $3,800.

What would you do if you could go back in time?

  1. No. Think of the yearly property taxes!

I would ask my mom some questions and I would certainly go to Paris.

I am not sure I’d want to go back in time. Women didn’t have it so great, unless they were wealthy, and even then….the heavy clothes, the heavy social norms. We have it so good now.

  4. I would love to go back and view family celebrations with my Dad’s side of the family. I remember lots of laughter, love and fabulous meals. I’d like to tell my Dad the things I’ve accomplished since he passed away, see his eyes twinkle with pride and really hear his voice. Oh and to learn how to make lefse from Favorite Aunty and Grandma and get a big hug from Grandma.

  5. Good comment, lol.

I’d go to the rag pickers places outside the walls of Paris! Once a junk gypsy, always a junk gypsy:)

  7. love questions like this-per chance to dream…..I would suck up every second around my mom and ask many many questions about everything but especially her-there are other things but that is the first thing that came to mind-

  8. Ed in Willows

    I would invest in Microsoft

  9. At that time that probably was alot of money. I would have wanted to buy it and build a little cottage, but I probably was a rag picker.

  10. I would have bought it, absolutely…having the money of course…

  11. Land onwhich the Eifel Tower would be built? In a heartbeat.

  12. Great question.
I’d ask my father a thousand questions, spend one more day with my sister, and have time with both of my grandfathers. All of mine are family related.
