1988 First Brocante

French brocante
At the first brocante I ever went to years ago I found a postcard of a woman impeccably dressed carrying eggs in a basket, water from the fountain in a zinc watering can, and carrying vegetables in her white crisp apron. The framed postcard is one of the first things I ever bought at the Brocante. It is worth nothing, but it spoke sweetly to me pointing in a good direction.

  1. What a sweet photo.

  2. Based on her clothing, when would you guess the photo was taken? Based on the background, where in France? Do you think she bought, or was selling, the eggs and produce? The pictures raises more questions than it answers 🙂 Surely a Corey story will be forthcoming to accompany this image, right?

  3. worth….maybe nothing or very little to someone -but the beginning of a journey for you….PRICELESS! a matter of opinion!

  4. Charming beyond……and a life guide! My husband and I stayed in a lovely hotel near Beaune. Chateau Vault de Lugny! It was a former country house of the lady’s family! There were all these birds! Chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, peacocks…….heaven!
It inspired us…..and we came home and we have many of those!
It all starts with an inspiration! Brava!!
Rose Story Farm (hear near Santa Barbara) started the same way! At the same hotel!

  5. Completely charming! I love these kinds of things. They take you right into the past.

  6. Lovely postcard, I can see why you chose this one. There is a story there.
