Living with the Story

"We must live with the story we have."

A group of friends were talking about something that had happened that was difficult to understand and harder yet to accept. Some of us were baffled, others angry and a few trying to see the bright side. At last, someone said, "We must live with the story we have." His words struck me as wise and true. I do not know how to explain it except to say, it sounded like, "Do the best you can and let it take its course."

Which at this point, or this chapter in the story, it is like trying to see the sun behind the clouds.

Oh those clouds really do get in the way. Lack of harmony annoys me, kind of like a pebble in one's shoe, or a fly buzzing around the house, annoying. I want to take the pebble out and throw it at the buzzing fly. But what would that serve other than me? And it would not serve in the way of harmony.

Reflection on a bronze urn.

Everything was speaking, symbolically of healing, letting go, trust…

Follow the light that leads, focus of the golden reflection.

How do you deal with a difficult situation?

My mother would say, pray.

Yann would say, focus of the right thing to do.

I usually cry followed by having to talk and, then I am able to pray and see the light,

But first I feel the feeling, in other words: Live with the story emotionally.

So I stood against the wall in the form of a cross and prayed for the situation at hand:

May happiness and love follow you.

He shows me the way most of the time and that is a gift beyond price.

  1. Just this afternoon a friend said how if another party had not been so demanding (re a business deal) ) things would be going more smoothly for me.. The other party had demanded a sequence of events that made what I need very difficult to arrange. I told friend that nothing could be done now to change things and it does no good to bemoan past things. I keep telling myself this, but still feel very stressed.

Deep and mysterious. I wish I could sit with you and have a coffee and talk…and listen…

  3. I don’t know what the story is, but the building is beautiful, as are its lush green lawns. And that’s a great picture of you…you look so chic. Those are a few simple things to be happy about.
    I like these quotes:
“When they go low, we go high.”
“Faith is not something to grasp, it is a state to grow into.”

  4. Thank you for the wise words. Sometimes, words heal.

  5. My father always said, “When one door closes another opens”. I truly believe that there is an alternative or solution most of the time…that’s not to say that I don’t panic or have a hissy fit sometimes first. Much better to do what my mother always says, “Take a deep breath and count to ten” then think about what can be done.
    Good luck! X

  6. Words to remember….We must each live our own story…..sometimes very hard to do
    Thanks for this….

  7. Everybody’s difficult situation is different.
All we can do is the best we can with what we have.

  8. A perfect, touching, and most helpful story. Love the cross. Love you and your family. Yann is precious as are you.

  9. We must each live our own story and we must be able to stand square and look in the mirror and know we have done the best we can.

  10. LOVELY, SAVING !

  11. Words just perfect for these times. Thank you. Your walk with the Cross, and open ability to put your “restless” self to the side and listen comes through in all of the goodness that flows forth in your journey. Thank you, and bless you.

  13. SO BEAUTIFULLY SAID-

  14. I feel this post in every cell of my being-every single cell -every emotion-living with your story-well sometimes it and me still are wrestling it out-yet in the end the only thing you can do is LIVE WITH YOUR STORY-

  15. Thank you for this.

    Thank you.
    I needed your words today.
They don’t fix what is hurting me,
but they help me to understand and
    live my story.
Like Jacklynn, I would love to
sit and talk with you all day long.

  17. By the looks of how you and Yann are dressed I would say it was something “formal ” in nature. Hope all is well with all of you. It is so true that we each live our own story. We do so in tandem with others though and the love and caring of others is paramount. Blessings on you both.

  18. I hope the past events resolve themselves so that you can do what needs to be done smoothly and with less stress xx

  19. Soon. You are going to love the house! And I will enjoy your being here.

  20. Thank you on all accounts. I like the second quote very much xx

  21. Or count to twenty and repeat 🙂
The saying about the door closing and another one opening reminds me a friend who says, “Look for a window.”

  22. Especially when intertwine with another xx

  23. Ah thank you my little kristi xxx

  24. Yes. Even though I feel I have it is still is hard to hold.

  25. That makes me feel better xx

  26. I hope so, but I have a long journey to go.

  27. Then we are walking hand in hand/

  28. I hear the undercurrent. xx

  29. Just knowing that makes it easierXX

  30. “…the love and caring of others” that is where I need to focus.

  31. Such a beautiful post that hits home! Wishing you peace and the knowing that you did what you could and that was your gift to give.

  32. I just used the first quote with some friends last night. I love, love, love the second quote. Thank you.

  33. “Look for a window.” Another great quote! I must write these down.

  34. Such a lovely post, Corey. My little mum would say, “Offer it up to God, Jan-Marie!” I hear her voice frequently reminding me of this. Sometimes, I fight it, fight it, and it eats me up inside. When I finally offer it up, it’s like a butterfly released from the cocoon. Praying for you and your difficulty. xoxo

  35. You sent me an email on the 20th may 2006 ( pick up your harp and play)

    Dear Ana
Everything has power to make or break our days. A word can be a blessing or a curse. I am glad to know my blog words brought you some joy!
Each day I try to tell myself that no matter how bad it is I need to celebrate life, even if all I can offer that moment is a simple smile for a few seconds. Have courage! My prayers are with you in your troubling times.
    Corey
You, who I have never met and have always wanted to, reached out to me in one of my darkest moments. We wrote to each other again but the second email is too personal to share but your sentiments and your faith were a balm to me when I needed a friend.
Your Faith will see you through this time and whatever your situation is. Faith, love, hope. You have shared these with me and the rest of the people who read your blog on a daily basis, so now I share them with you. I will be praying for you and your family.
    Ana. Xxxxx
