What Are You Up To?

Brocante finds corey amaro

After the French Muse the list of things to do before leaving for Willows (this coming Monday) was daunting. I had to remind myself one thing at a time. The very first thing was checking in with Rene regarding Cassis, the floor is nearly in place and tomorrow the kitchen will start to take shape! The grand scheme for the apartment is in place. When I return the decor details will be on the agenda. It is bittersweet to be leaving before it is completed, but we are on the same page as what is in store and what needs to be done. I trust Rene, and the plan we have for Cassis.

Our friends Arnelle and Roger came to spend the day with us. We were in Cassis and it felt like summer even though I had a sweater and tights on.

My friend Mo from Reves made the garlic out of black clay pottery and white glaze. Isn't it darling.

The House Next Door has seen three friends and a fourth one to come. Everyone seems to fall in love with it! The House Next Door has a calming effect, it is like a cocoon. If you are coming to Provence and need a place to stay think about coming to stay with us.

I call the photo I took above: Wall Flowers, as they were against the wall in a vase.

Those of you who know me, know I do not create art. But the other day I took a torn, tattered piece of 1700s altar silk, and carefully glued it to a board then framed it.

What are you up too? What projects are you working on?

Pretty amazing to have silk from the 1700s still intact at all. Lovely.
    I am up to
    (a) painting, bit by bit, dots and designs on two little stools to give as baby presents for babies who are already 2 and 3 months old. And one more painted stool for the one’s 3 year old brother, so she doesn’t get all the fun. My goal is to have them done before these two little girls are walking.
    (b) figuring out places to stay in France for a 3 week holiday next late May/ early June! Oh boy! Anticipation is so much fun!

  2. Just plodding along, translating more stuff. But you already knew that 😉

  3. You say you do not create art, but you do. I look at your blog for the beautiful photographs that you take, and for the lovely glimpse of France that you share. I love your photos! They are very creative. In addition, your son takes after you, showing lots of talent, as I have seen some of his work that you shared in the not too distant past. You are a born photographer and I always look forward to seeing your posts.

Oooo la la, these PHOTOS!! Mon Deux.

  5. We enjoyed staying in the house next door. Quiet, calming and beautifully decorated. Wish I could fit some of those lovely antiques on the white shelf into my luggage…..and the bathroom wall sconce!!just kidding.

Are you arriving back in Willows on Election Day? In time to vote? Fly well, Leslie
P.S. As you may have guessed, I am busy working on election issues.

  8. P.S. Boa viagem!

  9. I love the idea of framing the silk, bet way to preserve it. Don’t even ask about the list of things I have to do, aside from the mundane I have a list of projects a mile long, somehow they never quite seem to even get started, only in my head, not enough hours in the day! Fly safely x

  10. Corey, we know how you love to document your activities. However, it’s apparently illegal to take pictures inside a polling place,* especially a selfie in the voting booth. Justin Timberlake recently posted a picture he snapped of himself voting early in his native Memphis, including the screen displaying who he was voting for, and oh man, did the spit ever hit the fan! IIRC, Timberlake took down the photo.
    * There may (or may not) be an eventual Constitutional challenge to this on First Amendment grounds, but for now this is how the law stands in many (if not all) states.

  11. I am Canadian. Having just finished the ‘loo’ in our 150 year old Prince Edward Island farmhouse, we’ve just come back to our Ontario house. I’ve now turned my attention to my mom’s (now mine) five generation old press back dining chairs. For years I’ve wanted to…but didn’t dare…paint them. Should I, shouldn’t I? Well, I did. They are now tomato red. Mom’s being very quiet but I expect a bolt of lightening anytime now.

  12. Love your photos, Corey. It’s art. And your writing is lovely! I’m finally getting started on my scrapbook of my trip to Provence last October with the Red Shed girls. Reliving the memories and wishing I was back there.

  13. Still illegal in California (although last-minute court battles there “could” overturn it):

  14. That looks gorgeous Corey xx
I am busy displaying Christmas decorations
    in my shops … brimming!!

  15. And planning your next trip to the Azores I imagine 🙂

  16. lol! Thank you. I thought of you when I added certain pieces to the house.

  17. As it should be, living the moment at hand with gratitude xx

  18. I voted by mail. 🙂

  19. One thing at a time. Happy creating and doing what you do xx

  20. Sounds very daring and original! I would love to see them! lol about the lightening bolt!

  21. Thank you Debby! Come back and join us on the French Muse. xxoxo

  22. wish I could help you!

  23. Just enjoying the distraction of taking a break from work reading all your readers comments from all over the place. It’s quite a chat place. Loving Shelley’s mums silence and pending lightening bolts! Bless.

  24. I’ll happily post a red chair pic (and would love to see Andrea’s Christmas décor pics – oooooo, I’m a bit of a drooling idiot about such) but can’t figure how to do so here. Is there a method I’m unaware of?
