Goodbye until we Meet Again

The buttes

Goodbye Homeland,

Bittersweet goodbye.

Good bye Buttes outside my childhood bedroom window.

Goodbye golden days, harvested fields, amber leaves,

geese that fly by…

Good bye Mom and her kitchen of home made goodness.

Chocolate chip cookies, sweet bread and early morning waffles.

Good bye warm embrace.

Good bye boys.

Who play, and ride and have a

rough and tumble growing friendship.

Amaro blood.

Goodbye walks in the field.

Brother's humor, laughter, cold beer, girls with long hair, days that fly bye.

Sweet friendship

Goodbye Erika, sweet dearest friend of thirty some years.

Goodbye friends, Aunts, cousins and my dear Godmother who I did not get to see!

Good bye pomegranate tree,

walnut orchards,

golden days of Autumn.

Goodbye family.

  1. The lyrics to Roy Rogers Happy Trails song…”happy trails to you, until we meet again” would be better. Goodbye sounds so sad!
One of these trials, I hope you have time to visit Seattle.

  5. Such sweet sorrows! But at the other end, such sweet welcoming home.

  6. So hard, love and homes in two countries so far apart. This brought tears to my eyes just reading it so I can only imagine how you feel. Big hugs. Xx

  7. Tugged at my heartstrings…..couldn’t stand to leave my Mommy. My Mother did it every year for 20 years. Your dear FH will be so happy and that will make it all better.❤️

  8. Such tender and beautiful expressions of your heart, your soul, your feelings as you step from one world to the other. Always you carry the pieces of one place along with you to the other. I treasure my time reading your blog and seeing your wonderful photos each morning and thank you for the tender sharing of your story and the story of separation which is truth for so many of us.
Safe travels as you head back to the arms of your dear, sweet, amazing Yann.

  9. Safe home, Corey. Hope your trip back to your French home is uneventful. Easy to see why your home in France is so often filled with friends and family. You have such a wonderful model to follow. Your mother has created a safe and loving home and so have you.
