Cassis Beginning Peeks

Cassis renovation first floor the beginning

The stairs had to be taken out, the beams above were rotten.

The room in the back is now a living space/second bedroom.

We also lowered the floor in the back by taken out the second step to one step. Underneath we found an eighteen century oar.

Remember the light I found broken and tangled at a second hand shop? It

was the beginning of when  my thoughts started to think mid century, something why out of my comfort zone, modern.

I am so pleased. I keep tearing up. I cannot believe this is happening. A dream came true.

After glow.

Thank you Rene, if I say it a million times it won't be enough.

  1. You undervalue your own talents. The combination of Rene and his raftsmen and your own skills made a gorgeous home.

  2. You are one unbelievably lucky girl – and one with such vision! It is beautiful! I am excited for you!

  3. Living vicariously through you. Mercy. and the chandelier blows my mind.

  4. Beautiful, Corey!

  5. Amazing! I would be in tears for sure.

  6. Hard to say anything but beautiful and amazing transformation!

  7. Seriously amazing. Those blacks glass doors are divine.

  8. Chic, chic, chic. The ceiling with the beams is just enough white and just enough rustic. Love it, Corey.

  9. Beautiful!!

  10. Can’t wait to see the rest in detail!

  11. I looks wonderful. Great job!

Stunning! Can’t wait to see the rest. I love the sliding French doors that divide the space.

How satisfying to see it come together. Your renovation is going faster than mine. We are hanging the curtains today. 4 meters high. Not easy. They weigh a ton. I know–I made them myself.

OMG, I absolutely love it, this is exactly how I would do it, the light is beyond fabulous, and the sectional sofa is perfect with a modern kitchen and the black sliding doors, it is quite simply stunning. I can quite understand the tears of happiness, I would have them too.

It is astounding that you and Yann could look at that place as it was before and have the vision (not to mention the where-with-all) to transform it. I would have been overwhelmed just looking at it. Corey, your talent is amazing.

  16. Stunning

  17. BTW, love t new banner

  18. Absolutely beautiful, what vision you have.

  19. No words suffice. Just sit back and enjoy – and think about the other house next door in St. Z.

  20. And I can’t believe I missed the banner. I think for you, the nose beckoned 🙂

  21. To my great surprise I also had a tear viewing your photos – and it isn’t mine at all….. And I too hoot our René’s name in praise of over coming the impossible. I can’t tell you how much my body wants to flag onto your guest-room bed-Sofa for a natter, a wine and cheese and pear or grape platter and then, after a long walk along the Cassis sea-line, fall into a deep sleep on the said sofa!
All my congratulations – it is beyond spectacular!!!!!

  22. And Love for the new Banner – it’s the one I liked best but somehow I didn’t realise that is was all about the background and not about the name of the blog…. Sorry for missunderstanding the whole thing – I guess my mind was focussed on something else.

  23. What impresses me most is how you managed to make the place light and airy despite the narrowness of the space and the zoning limitations re changes.
Re T-I-C: I have a friend I’ve followed even longer than you, who changes her blog banner every year!

  24. Love the new banner. Loved the old banner. Love how things are coming together – so lovely and elegant. LOVE the sliding doors and would love to do that between two rooms I have if I knew how! Love the chandie on the wall – magical space!

  25. Simply fantastically stunning! The sliding black glass door ass a touch of mystery as that large beam and rustic ceiling are the only bits of the rustic..the chandelier is a great blend of the rustic and mid-modern look and perfection over the sofa. My oh my, tears are a natural response to seeing the transformation.

  26. It is so perfect. A blend of two worlds. Stepping outside is one magic world…and then there is the peace and solitude of the inside world.
    Unbelievabley well done. Congratulations……

  27. I love the banner…it is also perfect….

What an incredible transformation, through joint effort, coming from the mind of a visionary!Congratulations, Corey, on following another dream and making it come true! Brava!

  29. I think Sacha will like that couch better!! 😉
Congratulations on it all coming together.

  30. As gorgeous as I knew it would be! Cheers!

  31. Everyone has used up the adjectives! You have managed the combination beautifully – modern in that wonderful place in that wonderful building, I didn’t think it was possible. It’s as peaceful and serene when you arrive inside as it is outside. You have captured, not just a look but the feeling. LOVE the black sliding doors defining the space but letting light in and expanding the rooms visually. Congratulations, well done!

I’m so surprised to see the lovely lounging area there behind the sliding doors. I still can’t imagine what the arrangement is, moreover what the feel of it is like to be in those spaces. Hope sincerely that I get to see it when we’re in your neck of the woods this coming June. xox

This week and last, I have been helping my husband, a general contractor, reconstruct a basement that was ruined by water/sewer backup. Every time I work with him, I come home with fresh respect for his knowledge and abilities. So many niggly little details that he must figure out how to make “just right.” A good contractor is worth his weight in gold, that’s for sure.-Kate
