Birthday Withdrawals

Cassis winter

After a lovely weekend in Cassis, in our new place, with Chelsea, Sacha and French Husband, I am having birthday withdrawals.

Have you ever felt that way after a wonderful time spent?

I shouldn't feel this way, I tell myself, life is good.

And, well, I don't feel that way…

well, for a few minutes here and there that is.

  1. I missed your birthday due to computer woes. I’m typing this on an ancient laptop! Happy Birthday!

  2. I”m in full on empty nest syndrome mode, I feel ya.

  3. That is why you need to plan birthday celebrations for the whole month. Special little things, like lunch with a friend or a treat you give yourself.

  4. Birthdays with our loved ones are the hardest to let go of, especially once the kids leave home. Look forward to the next celebration, if you can and enjoy the fact that you have a wonderful hubby close by. They are wonderful kids. Easy to see why you miss them when they are gone.

  5. I feel this way every time we come home from visiting family. And on their side, my parents used to leave the little children’s table in the middle of their (small) living room, with crayons and our kid’s scribbles all over, so they could continue to feel that she might pop in at any moment.

  6. Find a quiet spot and let your mind drift, taking deep breaths.

  7. What you are feeling, I think, is very natural…who doesn’t miss the feeling of being enveloped with the love and joy of family? Life is nothing, however, without opposition. Without the sadness our joy wouldn’t as full. Here’s hoping you feel the balance quickly and you feel the consistency that brings.
(On a bummer note, my birthday brought a horrendous flu and sacrifices to the porcelain gods…I’m looking forward to a celebration in a week or so. Somewhat your feelings only in reverse order.)

  8. That is such a beautiful sky in the photo.
Would love to see some pics of your Cassis place. Are you done?

  9. Happy belated but still as blessed Birthday, Have the most wonderful year ever!
