Cassis, The Living Room

Before

This was the living room space,

with a ladder going to the upstairs bedroom.

Chelsea and Yann are standing in what use to be the kitchen. We moved the kitchen downstairs.

Cassis apartment

Tomorrow I will show and tell more about this room. Because today I am going to respond to yesterday's comments. If you want to hear more about the apartment you might want to check yesterday's comments.

If you have any questions so far let me know and I will try to answer them in the comment section.

Thanks.

  1. Love the pillow on the couch!! Is that the chandelier you bought in October?

That ladder in the before picture is crazy! I don’t know how you envisioned the final result from the original space – such a difference.

  3. Wow Corey, you and Yann did beautiful job designing this and with Rene’s expertise brought it to life. It is awesome.

  4. I am curious to know now that you have finished Cassis, what you think of decorating in the more modern style. As opposed to your previous “antique” technique? Are you equally interested in both or leaning towards one or the other?

  5. Pea green with envy! The mixture of styles is beautiful and well done.

  6. Question: I had White Oak floors installed also. I wanted them to look as raw as possible, but the installer insisted on putting a sealer on them which made them more yellow and not flat, but a slight shine. Did you seal yours?
You’ve done a beautiful job restoring your new apt. to elegance….

The pillow is from a home decor chain shop called Maison du Monde, it can be found online.
Yes! That is the chandelier that I bought in October.

The ladder was nuts! How I envisioned the space… necessity.

Hi Nancy, That is a good question. I think my horizon is broaden. I still prefer to buy “old” as it is “recycling”. Modern pieces can be found “old” as well. Both styles attract me. I would like to try my hand at this style again. From a design sense I am beginning to understand the mix, and that I find curious and imaginative.

Ah thank you Mardog! For those of you who do not know, Mardog is a friend from childhood. xx

Hi Dee, Yes we did. We found a seal that was mat and clear. We had to leave it “set” for four days without walking on it.

  12. I see some tricky areas with the walls. Rene did a fabulous job! The place looks gorgeous! Congrats to all!

Love the window, the chandelier, the whole sitting room. Actually let’s face it, I am in love with your apartment! So enjoying reading these updates every morning.

It takes my breath away!! So very pretty and cozy!! Modern can be a bit cold, but you have placed and mixed everything so well.

  15. I personally am not bothered by the washer and dryer being exposed. I also don’t find the need to cover up a television or a coffee pot/ toaster/ blender on the kitchen counter either. They are a part of life and they do make the people that visit feel comfortable in their surroundings and say make yourself at home. I look at it as a ying/yang arrangement, you can have your beauty sitting comfortably next to your necessity and they compliment one another.

  16. I have been very curious about what the neighbours think? Do they come with comments and praise or stay aloof from it all…..
