Lunch at Home

Lunch at home, Provence, Spring salad

In the town where I live there are a few restaurants, five bakeries, two cafes, a few pizza joints, a major grocery store and a weekly open market.

I cook nearly everyday, but I do not do breakfast, in France breakfast is a coffee, a baguette, yogurt and fruit. The bakery is two minutes away on foot. Anyone can do breakfast.

Lunch and dinner, that is another story. Today for lunch:

Sliced baby leeks sautéed in olive oil…

with dried orange peel, to give it a bit of pizzazz.

 Crumbled feta,

Salt to taste,

Walnut oil to swirl with grace,

lemon

Lemon juice to tingle the taste buds.

lentils

When the baby leeks glistened, everything came together with cooked, but no longer warm, lentils.

Lentil, baby leeks, lemon, feta and orange peel saiad

Delicious spring with hints of winter not far behind.

Such a poetic “recipe”! I quite appreciated each detail photo, illustrating the ingredients.
“Walnut oil to swirl with grace” brought to mind “Monday’s child is fair of face, Tuesday’s child is full of grace.”

  2. I need to learn to prepare meals such as this. I am not a creative cook. What creativity you share from the kitchen.

  3. It all sounds and looks delicious except the lentils. Would garbanzos work as a substitute?

That sounds like a nice salad. I tend to do everything raw in salads, but it’s true that vegetables like leeks are also good cooked and cold/tepid. A good reminder to get out of my rut. And I have a bunch of leeks….

  9. Beautiful it looks delicious
