Birthday around Christmas

As Chelsea's birthday falls near Christmas in the years passed I would wait until after her birthday to set up for Christmas. Of course, some would say I procrastinate, and then I would say I resemble that, and at the same time, I would say I need to have pressure or expectations from others to motivate me. Whatever the reason I am what I am. Anyway, this year as Sacha isn't here and Chelsea was coming home for her birthday and asked if I had Christmas set up, actually more of a hint than a question. That was the motivation I needed so I  put a few bits of Christmas decor up using it as a backdrop for her birthday. Nevertheless, the birthday presents were not wrapped in Christmas paper.

The three candles French Husband said symbolized, "Love, Happiness and Health… or was it, Love, Family and Health?" Anyway, same difference.

Tomorrow morning we have the first "cater tasting", I have never been to such a thing. Have you?

I have a list of questions that mainly have to do with service since the food will speak for itself.

  3. Happy Birthday to Chelsea. That first picture would be beautiful on a card.

  4. Happy Birthday…that cake looks heavenly. What is it?

  5. Today is my birthday and imagine my sweet surprise when I opened your blog and saw “Birthday Joy”. My first thought – “how did she know?” until I read the whole thing. We around-Christmas-time babies have a hard time of it in the beginning: true friends know the cardinal rules – never say – :”this gift is for your birthday AND Christmas unless you expect me to do the same for your day of birth in July or any of the other 11 months. And NEVER, NEVER, even consider wrapping my gift in Christmas paper. I’m sure that the person whose birth we celebrate on the 25th would feel the same way!
    Happy Birthday Chelsea.

  6. Lovely photos, lovely Lady… Happy Birthday. Also happy tasting, it should be fun.

Merry Christmas to you all as well…..

  9. We went to a few tastings when our girls were looking at venues for the reception. It was fun, but frankly, I hardly remember what we ate or drank on those days. Too busy dancing and having fun!

Happy Birthday to your #1 daughter. So beautiful!

  11. My birthday is the 27th and I always made sure there was no Christmas decor left up by that day. At least that was how it was when I lived alone. I have no say in it now. When I was a kid I also didn’t want my birthday present wrapped in Christmas paper. Now I don’t care. In fact, don’t even mention that I’m a year older.

Going to the bakery to taste various cakes is quite the tradition here – and one that the grooms seem to enjoy. Enjoy the moment.

  13. A most happy birthday to Chelsea and a glorious Christmas to all – much love and many hugs.

  14. Happy birthday, Chelsea. What a lovely family celebration – please Corey, tell us the recipe for the three candle cake.
Hope that all will be over the “bug” soon and have a glorious Christmas celebration time together.

  15. We put three candles on our cake… and say that it symbolizes ‘today, tomorrow, and yesterday’. Here’s to a Happy Birthday for Chelsea, celebrating with family today anticipating a beautiful future ahead while sharing special memories of days gone by.
