The Seine

seinr river paris

Last night after dinner we went for a walk along the Seine, though not very far because I tripped falling face first which knocked the wind out of me and split opened my chin.

Some mothers of the bride wear corsages I will be wearing a scar. With that said Sacha replied he could photoshop the poteneial scar out of the family photo if need be. All is good.

  1. Oh, Cory, I am so sorry. Praise God you didn’t injure yourself more severely. Once the cut heals, keep sunscreen on it religiously and it won’t show so badly.

  2. Cement is so unforgiving. I did same thing in March, with wounds to chin and upper lip. The worst part afterwards of feeling so self conscious during the healing process. Only one very tiny scar which only I notice. Heal well Corey.

  3. I hope you are well today-no body aches and such…..I hate when I fall…wishing you no scars.

  4. Ouch X.

  5. Jacklynn Lantry

Sorry to hear about the fall, but no matter, you’re beautiful and you totally “own” your (very clear and stunning) fashion self. I have no doubt that you’ll be gorgeous.

  6. Oh no! I hope you’re OK. You do have six months to heal.

  7. Jenifer Delson

so sorry to learn about this. Heal quickly.

  8. Photoshop works wonders ,,, so sorry you tripped and fell… I do hope you will not have to endure any scars to tell a story from…

So sorry Corey, tripping & falling is horrible. I fell down the last 3 steps at the casino, I wasmin agony & when my husband was helping me up he remarked ‘God you’re heavy’ Felt like kicking him in the shins!! At least I had something to show for it…..a blackened & bruised foot.
You can get cream to help heal so you won’t scar. Take care xx

  10. Oh no! A fall is the worst for body aches and a reminder of our fragility. I’m so sorry you fell, but as you are young, you will heal well and be as good as new very soon! I’m sure all of this will be a distant memory by summer!

  11. Eeeeew, so sorry! You’re the third person I’ve known in the last six months who fell with bloody results. Two’s a coincidence; three’s an epidemic!

  12. God love your heart Corey. That sounds like the things I do. I tripped and fell on one of our trips to Paris. Didn’t get hurt but my daughter proceeded to tell everyone I was drunk, which I was not. Hard to get drunk when the most I ever have is one glass of wine. My daughter is a real comedian. LOL

  13. Ouch! Sending pain free healing vibes! In time scar will be special memory of the fun of wedding planning with Chelsea.

  14. Love those European cobblestones.

  15. Ouch!! So sorry to hear this Corey. This fall (pardon the pun) while hiking on some rugged dessert paths I was so worried someone would get hurt (no one did). Days later I fell face first on a perfectly level concrete pathway at the Grande Canyon. To think you took the challenge to walk the rocky path at Cassis and then days later fell on the Seine walkway when you must have least expected it! Treat yourself to epsom salt baths for body aches and the wonderful creams for eliminating scars. So looking forward to your posts on the wedding plans:)

So sorry for your fall. Always painful and often embarrassing, but the scar is now another moment in time to wear proudly reminding you of your beautiful life and adventures.

  17. Oh so very sorry, Corey. My surgeon had me apply vitamin E oil four times a day to small surgeries on my hands…scars are almost invisible after 6 months. So thankful this chin issue was all that came from the fall. I know you will be healed and beautiful as the mother of the bride, have no worries.

  18. How painful! I hope there is plenty of time for you to heal before the all important wedding.

I fell once in Rome, a few years ago. It was so dark and my shoe caught on a crack in the sidewalk, and I fell in my face. I was carrying half a pizza in a box, which I believe broke my fall. I still busted up my lip and my glasses were damaged.
All that to say I know how you feel, and my heart goes out to you.
On the bright side. 6 months later at our daughter’s wedding, you couldn’t see a thing:-)

  20. Cousin Linda

A few weeks ago I had a hiliday lunch with a friend. I was wearing my black boots with the leather soles. I quickly felt the difference in the grip along the sidewalk and am now back to wearing shoes with rubber soles that grip well, i.e. Tennis shoes and Ugg waterproof boots. Leather soled shoes, particularly in damp weather, spell disaster. Yes, I am now officially an old lady.

  21. Yes you are right I did thank God! And sunscreen ok I will do thatxx

  22. You got that! Sorry it happened to you too. xxx

  23. A bit achey. Getting older is so not fun.

  24. Thank you for the boost! You are a wonderful cheerleader, I appreciate youxx

  25. Yes exactly!

  26. Thank you xx

  27. Oh my goodness, thank God you didn’t hit your head although I can’t imagine your injury is any less painful. Did you have to go to the hospital for stitches? Sounds like something I’ve done more than once while working around my property though my body fat seems to cushion things when I fall! Yes, photoshop is very forgiving when it comes to touching up photos. I sure hope you’re not bruised badly and you heal quickly. Arnica gel is fabulous for bruises, and do try vitamin E oil (straight from the capsules you swallow) to prevent scarring.

  28. I am sorry about your fall, and I laughed when I read your comment about wanting to kick your husband…

  29. Fingers crossed!

  30. Scary this falling stuff!

  31. If only you were drunk you would have not remembered, and now it is a funny memory. I like the twist of that xx

  32. Thank youxx

  33. I do, and I was walking on a sidewalk which made the fall really strange on my part, I tripped over nothingness. lol

  34. Thank you Epsom salts it is, I am achey. I have thought of Cassis a million times, I am glad I fell on the sidewalk in Paris and not on that hike!

  35. Thank you xx

  36. Thank you vitamin E it is! I am glad you are feeling better xx

  37. I think so, when I take the bandaids off I will know more.

  38. Sounds like we are on the same path only different countries! I am glad my glasses didn’t break.
    Thank you xx

  39. You will never be old to me!
PS I had on rubber sole boots, really cute and practical and STILL I fell!

  40. I should have gone to the hospital and had stitches. But I left it to the pharmacist and Yann to decide as I felt so sleepy and out of it at the time. I did hit my head, the sound was awful. I trip often, but never flat on my face.

  41. Ouch: sorry to hear of your fall. I have fallen 4 times last year……as I get older, I have balance issues. We will pray that you won’t have a scar and that you will feel better soon. I hope Yann is being a great nurse!!!

  42. Barbara Blizzard

Ouch – no fun taking a spill. Arnica Cream is wonderful for the aches and Vitamin E for the scars – exactly what I am doing for my knees right now. Feel better soon.

  43. Ann of Avondale

I used to trip a lot on flat surfaces and I never understood why. My husband said I don’t focus on what I am doing, I’m constantly thinking of one thing doing another and multi-tasking like crazy. But after my last fall, (face forward with no injuries Thank God), I decided to change a few things:
-Focus and walk slower and not think about a million things while walking.
-I gave up shoes with thin heels. All my shoes have those clunky heels. Also, my shoes have support, no more thin strapped sandals unless they are flats.
-no talking on the phone while walking.
Now, I literally have to remind myself that I am walking and try to focus on how I walk and being aware of my surroundings. That last fall was kind of a wake-up call.
    Take care.

  44. How horrible!!! I did a face plant last year in St Malo…..i sprained my ankle and damaged my pride. Strangers come to my rescue….and waited until my husband could be found. Yes Arnica really helps. I hope there is not too much scaring.
    Ali

  45. Wow, so sorry to hear. It’s just shocking when this happens, isn’t it? Thanking God nothing was broken. Love your beautiful positive spirit! xo

  46. Hello, Corey, When this happened to me, I laughed….but, inside I was really shaken up. A new wake up call to be extra careful, especially at night, now at my age. If I read your posts in the correct sequence, you were able to go look at tailored suits today. How wonderful! Take care and enjoy the rest of your time in Paris! Was that ice on the Seine?

  47. Been there, done that – many times – last time the evening before travelling to Switzerland for Christmas (Thank you bad, very bad eyesight!)! Two weeks+ later I’m still in awful pain and have full black/blue/green/brown body painting all over.
Lection to learn (and I thought I knew it!!!)ALWAYS carry your Arnica & Bach’s Rescue Drops on you….
I sadly have no son with any photoshop experience…. But I won’t (to my knowledge) be attending a family wedding either in a short time 🙂

  48. oh a SPEEDY RECOVERY!!!! Hit the send button too quickly

  49. Wow! Take care! Hope it is healing OK.

  50. Shelley Noble

Corey! Why the falling???! Please be very careful. And Heal with much love!!!!

  51. Arnelle Sanford

Corey, OK you only had ONE glass of wine. Now that you are healing: drink a couple more to alleviate some of your pain. LOL
    arnelle
P.S. We have all been there, done that.

  52. Oh Corey! Ouch!
Actually you are too beautiful for a scar to even be noticed .
Back to you today, Happy Anniversary, have fun traveling and celebrating
    your love for one another.
    xxoo jody

  53. Oh, no, Corey! So frightening. You will be beautiful, no matter what, because the light that shines from within you will blind all to anything else.
When we were at the Louvre last April, Jim took one backward step too many and fell quite a way down the marble stairs. I watched it all in slow motion and prayed every second that he would not hit his head. So many graciously came to his aid and he was miraculously unscathed, with the exception of a bruised ego. I was happy with the bruised ego and grateful it was nothing more.
