Am I Invisible?

The Pain-Relieving Response to Being Rejected or Excluded.

From outsider to insider
From outcast to beloved member
From unknown neighbor to coffee companion
From wallflower to life-of-the-party …"

  1. I very much enjoyed reading this when you posted it on FB. Thanks! As I get older there are times when I have felt invisible because of age, but thankful to have people in my life that see me.

  2. Corey, I’m so glad you chose to post this article, because it reminds us all to make an added effort to reach out to everyone we can.
And alas, I second Marilyn’s observation re age occasionally rendering us invisible to some others. Alas…

  3. I’m looking for a job and definitely agree with Marilyn’s observation.

  4. Kindness is always a very important quality. Thanks for your blog posts always.

  5. Dr. Daniel Goldman: “On any given day the denominator for kindness is greater than the numerator for cruelty.” A great quote for us all to remember.

Many thanks Corey for another wonderful insight to our sometimes cruel and complicated lives. So right to Marilyn too! Older sometimes take you out of the loop for certain invites and social gatherings.
    Blessings and love,

  7. Unless someone has been the subject of being ignored or intentionally overlooked you cannot begin to understand the pain…I was a very shy different child and more times than not, I was ALWAYS the last one selected to be on a team, etc. You would think teachers or other adults in charge would intervene and prevent such blatant cruelty but sadly I never remember anyone stepping up and saying hey that is not kind!!!! Even as adults, I have seen others play silly social games….now that I am older and wiser, I have absolutely no problem calling someone OUT if I see them acting in an unkind way toward anyone!!! I am a strong believer in DO UNTO OTHERS…sometimes serving them a healthy dose of their own hateful deeds is in order. And then I remember I do not care to be in the company of that person for any reason in future situations—when people show you who they are, BELIEVE them….and contrary to what some folks like to think, I tend to believe once a mean girl, always a mean girl…it really is not difficult to be KIND if you allow your heart to hold kindness

  8. I totally agree with everything you said…everything and I MEAN EVERYTHING is a tell about who and what we are….to value a person because they add to your worth or visibility-or because it grants cache or social standing is the worst calculated associations -this culture of TOO BUSY to send a thank you acknowledge an act of thoughtfulness or just to say verbally I appreciate the thought-I have stopped making a feast out of crumbs when it comes to my associations-I NOW BELIEVE WHEN PEOPLE SHOW ME WHO THEY ARE-and every little thing we do is a tell-even when people aren’t watching-

  9. Beautifully said G ……
