A Blanket of White over France

When it snows in Paris, by Chelsea

Yes, this was what I needed today:

Evocative photographs from my daughter, so I did not have to think about what to blog.

It is freezing in every inch of France.

I came home last night to a winter wonderland in Provence.

Wonderland as a pretty blanket of white, but I prefer Wonderland without temperatures in the thirties.

Provence come back!

This photo is my favorite! The angle, makes my senses tune in… focus on the woman walking in the distance, I can hear the snow tip tap on her umbrella and crunch under her shoe.

A bright red Parisian metro sign as a temperature gauge…

From the Tuileries gardens, in front of the Louvre, in the nearby distance a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

The Iron Lady (The Eiffel Tower) is hard to hide from her, she easily can sneak a glimpse of you from where ever you are in Paris.

The beauty of Paris is that it is everywhere.

Seeing it in its entirety is impossible, taking it in small doses equally as hard.

Paris is a feast for the eyes, a wonderland for the imaginative, a source of inspiration for most, and a dream to live. As Chelsea has said, "Every inch offers something beautiful."

  1. Taste of France

Paris is gorgeous no matter what.
It got to -3C here yesterday and we got a dusting of snow, but it didn’t last even until noon. All the village kids were out, squealing with delight. I went to town to take photos and there wasn’t any snow there at all, only a few kilometers away. It’s already warm (9C today, 14C forecast for tomorrow), and more daffodils than ever are opening.

  2. Oh, I love these (the photos, not the snow). Chelsea has such a good eye.
Bright and sunny here today, but we’ve been in and out of a “wintry mix” for several weeks and I dislike the freezing rain portion of that whole thing…slippery driving!
Enjoy the quiet of the snow.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. Love the first with the statue covered by snow!

  4. These pics are SO “artsy”. Chelsea has such a good “eye”. Hm-m-m-m I wonder where she got it 🙂 Has she studied Photography or is it just a natural talent with you girls?

Don’t forget, Sacha’s a visual type, too. Must run in the family!
Wish I were someplace a bit warmer right now, as a winter storm is headed our way tonight (heavy winds already, so I’m armed with a flashlight in case the power goes out).

  6. Oh what gorgeous pictures~your daughter is so very talented with the camera!

Wow so beautiful! My favorite city in the world! 2nd fav Dallas, my home. Thank you for sharing, that will be my only snow for the season. Chelsea inherited her Mother’s eye for sure!

  8. Jacklynn Lantry

Chels certainly did inherit Mom’s eye. 60 here yesterday and today high winds and snow!

  9. I don’t think anybody pictures snow in Paris. It is a whole new perspective. Now where I live, Chicago, snow is expected. I hope French homes are warm enough for this weather.

Temps in the thirties is considered a heat wave here in winter:) We are having heavy rain and wind today. Beautiful photos, the statuary looks awesome with a little snowfall.

  11. So beautiful! How I wish I was walking there and hearing the squishy sound of my footsteps on the snow. Chelsea has a wonderful artistic eye.

  12. Beautiful photos! I don’t think I have ever seen Paris in the snow. I was almost shocked! Of course, it is so beautiful.
